To take a look into Ramses II life you would have to understand a small amount of who came before him and what they did to have dominance of Egypt at that time. Horemheb who was pharaoh while Ramses I accompanied him on the throne was a great soldier and he was also a very good administrator. He did his best to get rid of all the corruption that had been going on in Egypt for many years. It had destroyed and brought down most of the country in trade in respect, before he would eventually die he regained esteem and respect throughout the rest of western world at that time. While Horemheb was trying to restore order in his country he had to had to elect some type of council. While electing this council and group of collaborators he noticed a young soldier who rose to very quickly to the rank of a troop commander(). This young soldier that he notice was Pa-Ramessu which would later become Ramses I. The pharaoh noticed how this soldier rose through the ranks and later appointed him as Royal Evoy to Foreign lands, which gave him the responsibility of transmitting diplomatic communications to other countires. After the pharaoh so how well he could handle that job he was then presented with the title of general and was so good at that Horemheb told him to take command of the fortress of Tjaru. This is the place where all military expeditions going through the east would have to pass through. Pa-Ramessu had earned the respect of the pharaoh so much at this time that he would eventually become the pharaohs’ right hand man. This would later lead to him becoming Ramses I and becoming pharoh over all of Egypt, but before then he was Pa-Ramessu the crowned prince over the entire country. Ramses the great tomb is located in the Valley of the kings maybe one of the most prolific tombs in that Valley period. His tomb is now empty though because they took his mummy out of there a long time ago. After many years of terrible weather and people coming into ancient Egypt and robbing these old and great tombs most of his tomb is destroyed. There are many efforts today to try and preserve and bring the tomb back to life as it once was during Ramses time to present it for the entire world to be able to gaze upon the greatness of his majesty. Although he was buried so long ago they say that Ramses the great mummy was one of the best preserved and one of the best bodies to with stand the hands of times out of all of the mummies that came around during ancient Egypt. So even after the death of this pharaoh he still can be called Ramses the Great.
