Car Braking Problems: Sudden car accidents have become one of the major problems that various stakeholders in the automobile industry continue to experience. The severity of this problem is evident in the frequency of sudden car accidents, injuries, and the number of deaths that occur. Actually, sudden car accidents take place on a daily and regular basis to an extent that they cause significant harm to victims and their families. Some of these accidents are attributed to the behaviors of drivers and passengers who believe they will never get involved in car accidents. As a result, these people drive while drunk, don’t wear seat belts, and use cell phones while driving. However, sudden car accidents are also attributed to several different reasons that need to be addressed in order to lessen their frequency and impact. One of the major factors contributing to sudden car accidents is car braking problems, especially difficulties for drivers to identify the car brake strength. Consequently, there is need to design a product that limit car accidents through providing information regarding the strength of the car brake. Issues Resulting from Sudden Car Accidents: As previously mentioned, sudden car accidents are caused by various factors ranging from mechanical problems to the behaviors of drivers and passengers. However, most of these accidents are completely preventable, especially those associated with the behaviors of drivers and passengers. These accidents are preventable because passengers can adopt measures that enhance their safety while travelling. On the other hand, they are also preventable because drivers can avoid fatigue and distractions that cause them. Actually, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administ... ... middle of paper ... ...mining how strong their brake system is. Due to the design of current brakes, they have been forced to rely on 5 different signs that may indicate the need for replacement of brake pads. However, these signs have not been entirely effective in helping drivers, which contributes to the need for a new product. The International Car Break Company has designed a break auto-wear indicator system to help limit accidents associated with drivers not knowing the strength of their brake systems. This product would work similar to the fuel indicator though its uses brightly colored material instead of a scale of figures. The suitability of the product is attributed to the fact that there is no need for modifications of vehicles, no noise makers, and no indicator lights. It’s a simple, cost effective, reliable, and safe system for showing the strength of car brake system.
Statistics show 16- to 17-year-old driver death rates increase with each additional passenger, which is due to distracted driving. Taking your eyes off the road for 2 (two) seconds, at 60 mph, means you have driven blindly for half the length of a football field. The risk of fatality is 3.6 times higher, when they are driving with passengers than when alone. For many years, the correlation between driving behavior and age has interested highway safety researchers and administrators. It is general knowledge that the greatest risk of motor vehicle crash...
The brakes play one of the most important roles in overall safety and so it important that they are reliable and durable.
Today’s society appears to be constantly on the go. People seem to be pulled in multiple directions at once. Individuals never appear to have enough time to complete tasks that continually accumulate. It can be difficult to criticize someone that tries to make the most out every minute. Unfortunately, some of today’s drivers show a lack of judgment and trying to perform other tasks, while behind the wheel. People may feel this is best use time while getting to a destination. Occasionally, the small amount of time that people are trying to gain results in a time consuming accident. With modern conveniences that are geared toward an on the go public, individuals appear to be too preoccupied to driving safely.
“Error is part of the human condition”. While errors by road users trigger crashes, the environment in which these take place should no be ignored - - road layout – indirect influences – nature of the vehicle – traffic laws, enforcement or ack thereof (Hijar)
The purpose of this experiment was to determine the relationship between the stopping distance and the initial velocity of the car before braking on different road conditions. In this experiment, a car is driven at different speeds on dry and wet road conditions. The braking distance is then measured, and the coefficient of friction is determined with the information recorded.
When a two ton motor vehicle hits a pedestrian in an accident, the pedestrian always loses. Pedestrian deaths are on the rise because of increased motor vehicle traffic and increased distraction in the form of technological gadgets such as mobile devices and GPS. Of course, technology isn't the only type of driver distraction, but it has added to the numerous ways that distracted driving can occur.
Some of the biggest advances in automotive technology in the past 30 years have come in the area of safety. Spurred by improvements in microprocessor speed, miniaturization, and software development, the automobile continues to evolve. In addition to telemetric based services like OnStar, digital satellite radio and in-car e-mail, recent advances in braking technology have led to shorter stopping distances and increased control while driving in inclement conditions. All these developments have been possible because a certain device, the ECU, was integrated into the automobiles.
One of the main factors of injuries in the United States is motor vehicle crashes, and inattentive driving contributes greatly to the occurrence of these accidents (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2016).
As the brakes abate the auto, they change its active vitality into warm vitality, resulting in intense heating of the brake disk. If the disks overheat, the brake pads stop working and, in a worst-case scenario, can melt [1].
This article is made by the mutual contribution and this is the collaborative project of David L. Strayer, Frank A.Drews and Dennis J.Crouch. They all presented their view point that the cell phones distraction creates more accident as compare to the intoxicated drivers. There are some rules made by the companies in this article to make the employees to follow the regulations for the use of cell phones during driving. This concern is going to increase world wide as all of the countries are having these risks factors that are particularly growing. There is the researched data that shows approximately 1.3 million people die and there are approximately 50 million injuries recorded due to the road accident.
Humans have visual cues that they naturally use to perceive their motion through the environment. There are numerous human factors that are associated with being able to navigate a vehicle safely while adhering to signal lights, signs and other traffic road markings. There needs to be vast improvement in the way that information is presented to drivers for many reasons. One example is that the placing of the sun during a particular part of the day prohibits one from distinguishing whether a traffic light is green or red. The elderly have difficulties reading certain signs or differentiating among the color of signal lights, even with their glasses on. Most everyone has less visual acuity at night and certain road markings or traffic lights are harder to perceive. Color blind people canÕt always tell the difference between a red light and a green light, and they may also have a hard time seeing brake lights, blinkers, etc. All of the situations mentioned above can lead to serious fatal accidents. Extensive research in this area has been conducted for many years and is still going on today.
These days, almost everyone will eventually cross paths with reckless drivers who have dangerous habits while behind the wheel. For many of these drivers, the car continues to serve as a social hobby. They can range from texting and talking, to applying makeup, to failing to use turn signals, etc... Also there is a responsibility that is mutually present and shared amongst all those individuals who come out on the road and drive. However, most modern day drivers have developed dangerous habits that tend to jeopardize lives and properties.
By interpreting speed and force in which driver depress the brake pedal the system detects whether it is an emergency or not. if the situation is critical, then system over rides and fully apply the brakes until the Anti-locking Braking System(ABS) takes over to stop the wheels locking up.by using this system the braking distance can reduce
Road accident is a global tragedy with the ever-rising trend. Almost every day we hear the news of the accidents in the media. Most people continue to negligent and ignore the danger involved in their driving and so these accidents happen. Road Safety Department (JKJR) director general Datuk Tam Weng Wah said that more than 80% of traffic accidents are caused by human error, according to the statistics by the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (Miros). The main causes of the increasing rate road accidents in Malaysia are road constraints, driver behaviour and illegal racing.
Over the last few decades, the use of cell phones has become a very common tool. Furthermore, Technology has certainly advanced, and the cell phone is becoming the most preferred mode of communication. The demand for a cell phone is growing every day. In addition, the use of wireless technology is affordable, and anyone can buy a cell phone at a reasonable price. They come in all shapes and sizes. They range from black to bright metallic white. American public use of cell phones is increasing everyday. As the number of people using cell phones increase, the use of cell phones while driving will also increase on our streets and highways. At the same rate, motorists still converse on cell phones and write text messages while driving. Motorist will also engage in other activities apart from driving. For example, drivers will text when driving, and they will dial numbers. Drivers will receive calls and converse with the recipient for long periods. Again, driving demands your full attention, and your concentration needed when talking on the phone. However, it means that the driver has to divert his attention to the conversation, which leads to less concentration on the road. On the contrary, one can therefore connect motorist’s accidents and cell phone usage while driving.
