Synthesis Essay #1 People cheat for a variety of reasons. Although there has always been dishonesty and cheating in society, cheating seems to be more common in our world today. Many people lie and cheat to get a good grade, to save money, to make others lives easier, and to make people feel better. The big question everyone has is why do people cheat? Cheating is something we all do , but no one knows why that's why we have people like Eric Anderman and Dan Ariely who study the human behavior. We all have a reason to lie and cheat, most of which are pathetic. Even our favorite athletes lie sometimes about steroids. Sometimes dishonesty in big business effect not just them, but us too. Dan Ariely said, “We see dishonesty everywhere: financial crisis in 2008 and when athletes lie about using steroids.”(Melamede). Like I said, people are lying and cheating everyday which can sometimes lead to problems for everyone. He followed the rules of the game to a T, right out of the book which made some players angry. The other refs that he worked with told him that some of the players had special rights and privileges like one of them could travel and not get called for it. One day his friend was asking him which teams he thought were going to win and such like that. His friend gambled these teams for money that's why he asked.
