People who experience generalised anxiety disorder (GAD) succumb to extreme worrying regarding concepts such as health, money, family problems and plenty of other matters even though there’s almost no reason to. People with GAD often anticipate the worst in everyday situations and they usually have low self-esteem. GAD can stop people from completing everyday tasks as a result of their almost constant worry. People with GAD usually cannot control their worries and recognise that they worry more than they should. This can result in them being on edge, making it harder for GAD sufferers to relax or concentrate, furthermore GAD can have an effect on a person falling asleep or staying asleep. The reason I chose anxiety as a women 's health issue is the fact that I know several people who currently have or have had an anxiety disorder in the past, all at different degrees of severity. More people need to be educated regarding anxiety disorders and address it as a serious issue. It is an issue that affects different people in different ways, depending on the type of anxiety disorder and severity of their case, therefore people need to be able to recognise the signs and symptoms in case it happens to themselves or a person close to them.
