CenturyLink is one of the larger communications companies within the United States and has even expanded abroad to other countries. When analyzing the SWOT analysis for CenturyLink, I was able to identify several strengths that set them apart from their competitors. As mentioned, they are distributing services in over 20 states currently and continue to broaden services to reach more clientele. They pride themselves on exceling in data communications and network systems databases which has allowed them to become one of the desired communication companies.
Additionally, having the recently designed cloud operations that are so popular with corporations has bundled big data and IT support in a package that appeals to larger companies. CenturyLink will continue to improve on all fronts as technology changes if they follow the research and design intuitions and continue to hire quality personnel over quantity. Currently they are growing the force as they still are below a 50,000 workforce. (CenturyLink Number of Employees (n.d.)
Currently CenturyLink is in the same transformation phase as its peers when it comes to the television market. CenturyLink offers a package with DirecTV bundled in, however that requires the customer to agree to the mandatory two-year contract stipulations set forth by DirecTV. (CenturyLink/DirecTV (n.d.) One of the biggest weaknesses of CenturyLink is the vulnerability of faltering when it comes to the constant changes in technology. This includes marketing advancements to match competitors and ensuring costs are comparable to intrigue consumers.

...weaknesses listed above thus making CenturyLink a smarter choice to consumers. While staying true to the roots of Louisiana businesses it would be a wise move to use interns as much as possible to establish a growth turnover rate to bolster the company’s employee count. This would allow for students from local states colleges to apply in a competitive avenue for the intern positions in research and development, marketing, management, information and technology just to name a few. My final recommendation to both the marketing and management teams would be to use focus groups as often as possible as it provides a great avenue to generate growth. Personally, I have seen brainstorming taken far beyond the capabilities of smaller teams when focus groups are used. Overall CenturyLink seems to be a competitive company in the communications field and is continually growing.
