I think there are mainly two reasons that Satoyama is attracted; sustainable environment and living with nature. First, what does sustainable environment means? Here I define it to reduce waste and garbage as well as possible. For example, in the video, not only usual tap water but also the natural water is available in Sangoro’s house. And they use it to wash dishes. Usually scraps of meal are drained to a channel. However in this case, scraps are bait for carps that he have. Carps eat scraps and excrement of carps should be bait for the creatures living in the channel. Satoyama has unique water purification system that there are no chemical materials. In the video Sangoro made traps to catch fishes. However he made mesh big to avoid catching

But the outstanding difference between Satoyama and any other place is that people are playing a partly role of the ecosystem in Satoyama. In Satoyama people’s behaviors to nature don’t need actually. For instance, in the video, Sangoro burned dead leaves to make fertilizer for next season. But the behavior doesn’t need actually. The water garden may be formed every spring. Likewise, they don’t need to keep the carps to purify water. And he can throw away the surplus fishes as a garbage instead of giving to bards. And although it is strictly cold, probably gobies can pass winter without people’s houses. Yet those people who live in Satoyama help and assist nature. People are part of ecosystem. However After I watched and analyzed the video, I found Satoyama has many knowledge that we should learn and apply. In 21st century, we need to be concern about nature. After the video, I realized what we need is to search for not how to protect nature but how to live with nature. Paradoxically people in Satoyama have lived since long ago. As I read the essay, I started to realize that while David Suzuki based this essay on nature and the wildlife, the deeper meaning within is not actually just about nature; instead, it is about parents influencing kids to think a certain way rather than letting them experience it firsthand and unbiased, and I believe that as society is changing, more people are focusing on fitting into the norm rather than trying things out on their own and having their own opinions. I feel upset that society is changing in the wrong way, and sometimes I wonder if parents are taking away their children’s curiosity of the world around them and manipulating their views on aspects of
Suzuki has said that, “My parents survived the Great Depression and brought me up to live within my means, save some for tomorrow, share and don't be greedy, work hard for the necessities in life knowing that money does not make you better or more important than anyone else”. So through his television shows and radio programs he tries to teach people this concept of conservation being a necessity for humankind’s survival.
Man is going to continue to grow in numbers, and in order to survive, his environment must also continue to expand. In order to achieve the necessary harmony, it is important that he not forget the theory of balance and harmony. Rather than trying to overcome it, if he takes the theory seriously, there can be a satisfactory co-existence. Like my tree, nature will adjust itself accordingly, and like the building, man must not stand in its way.

Sustainability is when something can be used and not be depleted, destroyed, or damaged past recovery. As we work to live sustainably, we are in effect making use of our resources in a fashion that doesn't eliminate them, and doesn't harm their source. Our resources come from the environment around us and we need to make sure that it is not harmed as we use it. According to the EPA, sustainability stems from a single principle that "Everything that we need for our survival and well-being depends, either directly or indirectly, on our natural environment” (Sustainability Information). Considering this, it's obvious why we need to make sure we live sustainably and do not damage the source of our resources, our environment.
There is no doubt that human activity is having a significant impact on our environment. These environmental impacts include depleting our natural resources, air and water pollution, climate change, destruction of habitats, and loss of biodiversity. Because of these growing concerns, we need to learn how to live sustainably. Living sustainably will allow us to conserve our limited resources more wisely so they will be available for future generations (Withgott & Brennan, 2011, Chapter 1).
Most of the environmental issues in Southeast Asia is inextricably linked to the interests of individuals or the community itself for their profit. Therefore, there are several steps that must be done in addressing environmental issues that have occurred in Southeast Asia, which are covers by six major problems. That is, through air pollution, water security, destruction of coral reefs, deforestation, increasing urbanization, and the threat to the conservation of flora and fauna.

Environmental sustainability is making decisions and taking actions in the interest of protecting the natural world, preserving the capability of the environment to support human life and ensuring that humans use the environment in a way that does not harm the environment. The relationship the Native Americans had with nature was different than the type of relationship we have with nature now. The Native Americans respected nature and took care of it, and they were very thankful of the land they lived on and the natural surroundings that they had. No matter how much research is done, it is obviously known that humans will never be able to fully understand the phenomenon of the natural world, yet it is something that we still continue to explore and work with each and every day. As The Red Turtle simply explains to the viewer, nature is something that is full of chaos and unpredictability, yet it is beautiful in it’s own way and worth exploring. In today’s world of the twenty-first century, it is quite easy to see that humans are dominating the natural world. Mainly, I believe that nature is a big provider for our health and happiness, but in order to sustain this relationship, the human population must also provide for the natural world and keep the common peace.
