Doing well in school, doing an extracurricular activity, getting into college, getting a job, starting a family. These are all things that a majority of our society perceives as success. That’s about it. However, I feel that saying that is the only definition for success is wrong. To put it simply, the clear definition of success is what makes one happy in life. Success is a word that can be defined differently by everybody. To some it is like I said earlier. Getting a job, starting a family, etc. and that is simply what makes them happy. However, to many success is much different than those goals. For example, to me success is getting a nice paying job and cruising through life always prepared to see where it takes me. From goals that people want to accomplish, to minor victories, to even little things like finding a dollar. These are all different ranges of success. It should also be noted that one’s failure could be another’s success. An example being, how previously mentioned winning a soccer game. With two competing sides needed in a soccer game, there must be a victor and a loser. Now one could say that the side that won the game succeeded, but if anyone even the losing team were happy playing the game and happy about the game or about the result then it would be considered a success on whoevers part. As long as one enjoys themselves whether they win or lose and are happy, they can consider whatever they were aiming for a success. Despite that many who obtain this life feel very empty inside, never really knowing what true happiness is and that money can’t buy everything in the world. They go through countless and countless amounts of dollars and never really get a taste of true success. Another case, where success can be misinterpreted is when someone sacrifices something they actually care about for a desire they have at the moment. You see this all the time in the media. Like how when two friends from childhood start up something together and then one of the two begin to become warped by some pay off and they begin to separate themselves from someone who made them happy. They give into those desires and feel as if they have succeeded but slowly they begin to realize otherwise. Success is something that can be measured from big to large. A victory in a game, the type of life that someone sets out to be, finding something like a bottle cap if you collect them. All these little that make someone happy in life can be considered success. They found or did something that improved their attitude and them. That is what true success is and that’s what everyone tries to truly succeed In order to succeed they should pursue
