What does college mean to me? In one word it means success. This word success means so much to me, and it is something that I want to obtain. I have always loved school in fact, I was the one who would get emotional over not receiving an A. School has always been important to me, but I have been placed with obstacles that are making it harder for me to further my education. If given this scholarship I will have the opportunity to further my education, be able to provide for my children while being a good role model to them, and the number one thing is to succeed and finally be a success.
My education goals are to receive my Bachelors in Biology, and use my degree to get into Medical School. I have heard people say, “Medical School, don’t you think it’s too late for that.” To me if you are determined enough it is never too late to further your education in any field you want to pursue. I am determined and I want this more than anything I have ever wanted in my life. I know that I am capable of completing this task. I have attended Amarillo College before, and I was disappointed on how I performed that year. I was working 50+ hrs a week. I am a single full-time parent, and I was trying to go full time to school. My grades reflected how badly I was struggling. At the end of that year I thought how I can make it through school while insuring my children are taken care of. It has taken me this long to come back to school because I applied for government assistance such as HUD, medicade, food stamps, and any other program that would give me help. I am now unemployed and stay at home with my 2 children. I receive government assistance, and I am ready now to put everything that I have into my education. It doesn’t matter how long it ta...

...to me this would be success.
I know by my previous grades I may not be the most qualified now, but I am capable of your standards. Actually I am capable of higher than your standards for a scholarship. I need this help to be able to take care of my family and buy necessary school supplies. I also would like to take a few CLEP test, but they are expensive. Please give me the chance this year to show you how well I can perform. My grades right now are all in the 90’s, and they will stay that way. I will have a better chance of success if I can receive your assistance. Either way, I will finish my education and reach my goals of being a Doctor. I am all that my girls have right now and I want to do the best I can for their futures to be anything they could dream of. At Amarillo College I will succeed and get to the next level of my education were I need to be.
What is success? Is it the process of doing a task and receiving a positive result acceptable amongst the community, or is it simply achieving ones own personal goals? Success to me can mean many things. Although I am successful in school, that does not necessarily mean I will lead a successful life.
College is said to be the gateway to a successful career, and I think no different. One of the main reasons I want a college education is so when I approach an employer they see me and think success. Studies have shown that when you have a college degree you are more likely to make an average 20 thousand more a year. If I was awarded this scholarship money it would completely change things for me; I say this because my family has struggled financially and with this I would be saved from crippling debt in years to come. Another reason a college degree is important to me is because I am striving for financial success so that I do not have to struggle like my parents have. In life money is what makes the world go round, and with a college degree I would be placed in a position where I would be able to achieve a level of financial security that would support myself, and hopefully a
I am Nursing major and with that degree to become a Nurse Practitioner who specializes in the Cardiovascular System to reduce the rate of heart diease in America. I am a hardworking individual and I take my academics very seriously. I understand that I am at school for a purpose and know my purpose is to further my education. I am just trying to make it. My parents always told me growing up “ In order to get something you never had that I will have to do things I have never done.” No one prepared me for college, because I am a first generation college student. In addition to being a first generation college student ; I am also a first generation high school graduate. I use my my parents trials and tribulations as my motivation, because I want
Most people today think of college as simply a place to get a better education, or merely as a steppingstone to financial success. College is far more than that. College is an experience that shapes a person, which can have both positive and negative outcomes. It is all up to the students to make the college experience worth their time and effort. Students must realize the importance of the responsibilities now demanded of them by higher education.
Going to college does not just mean getting an education, to me it means succeeding to a level of learning to where I can make something of myself and be proud of it. People say they want to attend college because they just want a good paying job, but that really doesn’t mean anything. Going to college to get a high level of education puts you in a rank of succeeding to the top. I, myself would love to attend college to reach those high peaks that I call my goals.
...hat I would benefit a great deal from any financial support that I receive through the Des Moines Area Community College Foundation Scholarship. I have worked at jobs and have taken out student loans in order to pay for my education for the entirety of my college experience, but feel that I would be a great candidate to receive a scholarship. I am working very hard to make sure that my grades are high and that I am doing everything to everything in my power to accomplish the goals I have set for myself. I want to be a success and I feel that an education is vital in order to get the job that I want and to become the revolutionizer I feel I can be. I would be honored to receive anything I was qualified for and will work my hardest to make sure that the money given to me is spent to further my education and development as a person. Thank you for this opportunity.
College terrifies the best of us with pricing of the college, atmosphere of it, and the total fear of not succeeding. In my mind, I have this dream that in college I will be the best I can be, achieve every goal I set, and go above and beyond of what I set myself to. I have always had that ambition when it came to my education. I knew I had support from family, friends, and teachers. There was just one big difference, at the end of the day I was in charge of my future. The only way I see myself achieving all this is to set my mind and get the degree I want, be confident in who I am, and grow from everything I learn.
In today’s society, college is a rite of passage for many young adults. It is a privilege that many people take for granted. For me, it is an opportunity to not only better myself but also the career field that I intend to enter. I believe that one does not stop learning outside of the classroom and that a college is a place where you learn more about yourself as well as other perspectives the world contains. Investing in my future, meeting new people and self growth are the ultimate benefits that are gained when one attends college.
Nowadays, knowledge is an essential in the American society. A college education is one of the most important gifts you could ever give to yourself. If you value your education you can thrive in anything you want to become. College is a turning point in life and if you take it very seriously, you will gain self-confidence, independence, prosperity, and success.
Although many people see college as a pathway to success, it is not for everyone. Many people make the decision to go to college because they want more out of life than what a regular day job has to offer. Sure McDonald’s could pay the bills but most people want a stable life. Most people would like to see themselves doing better than “well off”. College may often seem like a waste of time and money but receiving a degree is rewarding. With the degree in hand a person will be first in line for the best jobs after college or the college you attend has a wonderful job placement after school. College prepares you for the real world and offers opportunities to achieve more in life.
College is the gateway in a way to a better life it seems it opens up more opportunities for us to get better jobs and live a better life. First, thing first you have to take the responsibility and the effort to actually do
Success is within the mind of the individual. A large portion of ones life is spent working to become successful. People are told throughout childhood to work hard so they can grow up and make lots of money. But success takes many different forms. Different people have different interpretations of what success means to them. Talking about to college can be a very stress inducing topic for many high school seniors and even juniors. They are completely stressed and worn from trying to get into the best of the best, to get the best jobs and have the best lives they can. College is the determinate for your life. You make better money and are just overall more successful. It presents more of a challenge then you find in high school. But when you look at the it deeper you see that the pros far outweigh the cons in this situation.
College education essentially is the key to success in the future. It opens many doors of opportunity and allows us to explore every option available. College education can provide a student with new exciting opportunities that they would never had if they drop out of at high school. I would like to share some of the benefits that furthering your education can provide, and as well as the joy it can bring to each and every one of us.
Success takes many different definitions. People have different interpretations of what success really means. For me is as simple as: living well and laughing often. The idea of living well is a very broad statement. Living well, in my opinion is getting success in personal, social and professional life. If I can achieve all of these three levels of success, I believe that I have lived well.
