Recommended: how define success
Nearly everyone aims to be successful. However, success is a personal value, and everyone has a different characterization of what success is. Some people may think that success is having a life full of lavish things and heaps of money. Others may think that success is getting married and having a family. Success doesn’t always have to involve money. Success can be as simple as taking control of your life in one way or another, like getting into a healthy lifestyle, working out, or going back to college. These are successful in their personal way. Not only do people disagree about the meaning of success, but they also disagree about what success is. Some people may think success is only attainable when working on long-term goals, while others may believe that accomplishing any task is success. Success is quite a subjective term. If you were to ask ten individuals what they think the true meaning of success is, you would most likely get ten different answers. What one person thinks of as successful, may not …show more content…
The journey might be foreign, and the destination may seem so far away. Success involves preparation and determination. One way you can achieve success is by being open-minded. Being open to meeting new people and experiencing new cultures or lifestyles can show you the way to success. By being closed off, you could miss out on details or experiences that could benefit you, help you to accomplish your goal, and shape you into a more successful being. Another way to become successful is to communicate with the people around you. This goes along with being open-minded. Meeting and networking with different people can help you to get new outlooks and diverse perspectives. The last way (and one of the most important ways) to be successful is to be passionate about whatever you are doing. If you have no passion or love for what you are doing, you aren’t going to be motivated and you are eventually going to fail or give
´´ If one advances confident in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life he imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. ’’ These words were spoken by Henry David Thoreau.Success is within the mind of the individual. A large portion of one´s life is spent working to become successful. People are told throughout childhood to work hard so they can grow up and achieve all of their dreams. But success takes many different forms. Different people have different interpretations of what success means to them. It does not matter how related they are to each other in certain áreas they always have a different point of view of what success really is. For some success is measured by social status and wealth
According to Danika Senzer success is “....being confident and loving what you are doing . As long as you are proud of what you have, I would call that success. It will always be different from person to person, but that is okay.”(Senzer 34). This quote is expressing what Senzer really thinks success is. Maddi Dukes states that , “I think that true success is knowing that you succeeded a goal you set for yourself. I think this is the definition of success because when you set a goal for yourself, and you have worked so hard to complete it,it feels like complete success.” (Dukes
As I continue to grow and mature into a young adult, I have begun to realize that the word “Success” can have many different meanings. Depending on the person you’re discussing it with, they may see it differently than you do. The media and society have convinced us into accepting a misleading meaning of how success should be defined. Many people who are rich and seen as successful are often very stressed out and struggling with everyday life. Although, this is something that society often decides to look past because the rich are perceived to be very content and joyful with the way they are living their lives, almost as if they have nothing to worry about because of their success. When talking about success, people need to take into the account that the definition can have a variety of meanings, not only is success displayed from finances, but somebody could be considered successful for other things they do as well.
Is there someone you know that is wealthy and prominent? Do they demonstrate the characteristics of a successful person in today’s society? Media today has effectively convinced our society into accepting an untrue, even possibly hazardous definition of success. Even though Webster’s dictionary defines success as “achieving wealth, respect, and fame,” the definition of success is different for everyone. Society wants us to accept that having money, having big house, and owning multiple cars is the key to happiness, and henceforth, success. This is a lie; success is not having a large amount of money nor does it have to deal with fame.
According to the Merriam- Webster’s Dictionary, success is defined as, someone or something that is successful: a person or thing that succeeds. Success could also be defined as, the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. It determines if you are satisfied with certain aspects of your life, for example, your appearance, your personality, your abilities and your relationship with others. Usually, people are very judgmental with themselves comparing themselves with others and making decisions about themselves based on the comparisons that they made. Most people feel bad about themselves from time to time. To become successful, you have to possess some factors that makes you stand out.
Success is hard to pin down. It may be getting an A on a test or finding a high paying job or creating your most influential piece of writing or even just being able to be yourself. Success is different to everyone. Success follows no arbitrary rules of definition or singularity, success is just what is important to you and what what makes you happy. Success controls people’s lives. It is the single most driving force in all of history, the will to be successful. Without our preconceived notions of success and what it means to be successful, no one would follow rules, everyone would follow their own.
Since the very beginning of time, man has tried to achieve success. Success, as defined by https://www.google.com, is “the accomplishment of an aim or purpose.” This definition of success is very objective, but there are flaws to it. A person that values happiness will not be successful to themselves if they gain a lot of money but they aren't happy. Success is within the mind of the individual. A large portion of one's life is spent working to become successful. People are told throughout their childhood to work hard so they can grow up and make lots of money. 'One has achieved success who has lived well and laughed often.'; This quote seems to sum up what is meant by success. If you are able to laugh often and much then you have definitely achieved happiness. The idea of living well, though, is a very broad statement. In order, then, to define success in relation to this statement, we must first define what it means to live well. There are three levels of success, in my opinion: societal success, personal success, and academic or professional success. If someone can achieve all of these three levels of success, they are someone who has lived well.
Success only truly comes with being happy. Happiness and success are the accomplices of one another. Someone cannot have accompanies without the other. Happiness brings success, and success brings even more happiness. Success, in the dictionary, is defined as the achievement of something desired planned or attempted. Therefore, success cannot be judged by anyone than oneself. It is a personal thing. It is the realization of goals, desires or plans made by one 's self. It is not measurable and yet is something we always use to compare others or appraise someone 's worth. Success, in one form or another, is something that someone should always be striving for. For some people it is something they will do subconsciously, and for others it will be something they will constantly labor for. Because success is something that is different for everyone, it is best that they measure their personal success by their sense of self worth instead of others. To have succeeded is to have lived, as someone wanted; ' it is to have lived well and laughed

When thinking of the word “success” people tend to think of materialistic objects that one can buy with copious amounts of money. In reality, “success” actually involves the non-materialistic concepts such as completion of goals. To perceive this idea, we must ask ourselves, “Can failure ever result in success?” “Success” is a noun that is defined as “the fact or achieving wealth, respect or fame” (Merriam-Webster). Most of us wonder how we become successful individuals, and the term “failure” tends to escape our definition of “success”; however, failure is one of the main driving forces for the end result of success.
But take a look in the dictionary and things start to look thankfully a lot more complicated. Because success is in truth, rather more neutral and less valeting. It just means doing anything well, excelling at something and that might encompass a lot of different activities. For example, running a 100-meter dash, selling your app for a lot of money, or being extremely kind to strangers. No one can be successful at everything, whatever they tell us it's merely impossible to succeed in a career and family. They're always sacrifices. It's great to be successful, it's even better to make sure you followed your own distinctive and not necessarily obvious path. To the success that can fully fulfill
The exact definition of success, I believe differs from person to person. My definition of success is when I make all the people I know happy and mark check on all the things I have in my bucket list. Most of us think success is when a person is doing dream job or has all the money in the world to do anything. This is simply not true. There are many people in this world who have both money and successful career, and if one asks them if they are happy with their life, many of them would answer “No, it’s not my wealth or career that can make me happy”. Many of us also define a person’s success as when a person is satisfied with his life and does not care what’s gonna happen tomorrow. Well, we humans are made such a way that we are never satisfied. There is a famous saying in my culture “If a man has a valley full of gold, he would never be satisfied until he gets a second
