Redefining Success: A Personal Perspective

Over thousands of years people have been driven by success, but what is success? Success to me is the ability to perform at your highest level in the path in life that you take. I believe that if you are not driven to be the very best at the things you do then it is not a calling. There are plenty of opportunities in life and you should take everyone you get. Success is a word that is on a broad spectrum, there is no single definition to the word. I define what success is for me. There is no set image of success, success is also constantly changing. The word success means achieving what I want to do in life, and to prosper in the situations my life has put me in.

I am a strong believer that I am the only person who has my own back and no one should or will give me the easy route to success. However, I still believe that role models and leaders are key factors to success but a leader shouldn't give you all ask for they should tell you that failure is part of success. Brooks praise the idea of self-reliance throughout his book showing us what it really means and how we can use it to be successful. This really paints a picture to what self-reliance is. Time cannot be slowed down you need to find the job that is going to fit you but you decide what fits me, I create your own opportunities “Many business books tell you to set life goals and work to achieve them. I am not one of those people” (Henderson). I see time as opportunity to improve myself, not everyone will have time for you but I will always have time for myself.
