If I had one fear there would only be one thing, taking a test. I would have to guess that most people in this world would have the same fear, but this is by far my one and only fear. As we progress through life we all have to take some form of a test. I have taken test for school, promotion, and for job placement over the years. Unfortunately, I have never been a good test taker, and really never knew what it takes to be one either.
When the opportunity came to us to choose our topics, my first choice was study skills. Since I needed so much help with this skill I thought it would benefit from it and learn some new techniques. Over the years I have taken test for school and for my job. Of course school test I thought were a little easy due to the fact that I did my homework and I had the mentality that any kid when it came to test. When it came time for test that pertained to my job, is where it got more difficult, in the military we test for promotion. If you ask anyone I know my job very well and plus I was an instructor for job. So what was the problem? Definitely I lacked the motivation to crack open the books to study. Also, my biggest problem has to be that I have what most people would call test anxiety. Because of test anxiety, as soon as I begin taking a test I start to have a mental block and forget everything I know (Orr, F, 1992). If only I was able to apply all the knowledge in my head I would be a higher rank and definitely make a lot more money.
Knowing what I know now as an adult compared to when I was a kid or younger in my career, I definitely would make some changes in my test preparation. I always knew that as a student I had responsibilities. I definitely did not take those responsibilitie...

...the test, we see the rewards for all our hard work. Whether it is for a job promotion or a good grade in school, there is always going to be that sense of pride of accomplishment. The next time you have to take a test, try some of these methods. I know I will as I go up for promotion in the following year.

I am not a terrible test taker (situation), but I do experience slight anxiety (emotional reaction) whenever they arise. Usually the first thing that pops into my head (automatic thought) is that I will do poorly and receive a failing grade. This in turn causes my
While I am aware that an innumerable number of students around the country fail their driver’s test at least once, for some maybe a few more times; failing mine had a superb impact on me. I had been utterly confident in my ability, since for me it was no different than any other test I
I was not ready, focused, or dedicated and as a result it reflected in my poor grades. This left me feeling like a failure, and my confidence was low in my abilities. It would take years before I would I feel confident enough in my abilities to return to college. As years passed I became focused, goal oriented, confident, and realized the path I wanted to pursue. It was a constant gnawing feeling to return to college. Once I felt confident in my abilities to succeed in college, I enrolled. As a result my grades improved to a 3.27 GPA. My academic strengths are my ability to focus, endure, prioritize and study. My deficiencies would be time management. I have set aside a time frame for study time this is what helped me to succeed in my undergrad program.
Many studies show that older high school students tend to not take the mandated standardized test but rather “have fun” with the test by filling in the answer bubbles with pictures (Tests 3). The only time that students care about the results of a test are if they affect their grades or future goals. From th...

The biggest fear I have for my future is financial security. I worry that I will not be able to afford things and pay back my debts. This is my biggest worry because I have never been very financially secure and I am worried that I never will be. This has always been a fear of mine and I hope that one day financial security is something that is not an issue for me.
My greatest fear is losing someone close to me. I have witness friends die of suicide, motorcycle accidents and natural causes. Life can change any time, I tend to live my life the best I can and Travel and experience different cultures.
Most students experience some degree of test anxiety. Test anxiety refers to a combination of physiological, emotional, and psychological components that are caused by the stress of taking exams. This may interfere with one's ability to think, reason, and plan. For some students, test anxiety is an unpleasant experience but doesn't necessarily interfere with exam performance. For other students, however, test anxiety is not only an unpleasant experience but also seriously interferes with exam performance.
To begin, I am going to write about my weaknesses and how they transitioned into strengths. First, I remember after each assignment in class was introduced I
That night my sister revealed to me that she also suffered from test anxiety at my age, she gave some helpful tips to help relieve my stress. After listening to my sister, I realized that she was right. I needed to take charge and not listen to the voice in my head. That night I got out all my study guides and reviewed went to sleep early, woke up and ate a good breakfast. I felt good that I was ready to get over my fear of taking a test.
Even though the students are children they still may encounter severe amounts of pressure, students can grow weary of the repetitive and tedious nature of test preparation, and again a disengagement from the learning process. As parents and teachers we have to stand up to the educational system and help our children by fighting for what is right for them.
I was sometimes slower at completing a written paper or an assignment. In open discussions about material we had just read, things weren’t sticking with me after reading to feel confident to raise my hand and be active with discussions. I would have to search for answers in my memory for some time. Sometimes answers just weren’t retrieved at all. I became frustrated in school often, and eventually developed a negative attitude toward school. I struggled a lot with this because I knew I could do better. Every day I prepared myself for failure because I lacked the tools and strategies that I needed to succeed in school. Granted, I got by, but I could have been a much better student. I earned low B’s and C’s, but should have been A’s.
An important question to address when attempting to identify effective study strategies and their relationship with academic performance is, “What are study skills?” The term “study skills” can be defined as proficiency in identifying, organizing, memorizing, and using information in order to succeed academically (Proctor, Prevatt, Adams, Hurst, & Petscher, 2006). Activities identified as study skills include “time management, setting appropriate goals, selecting an appropriate study environment, employing appropriate note-taking strategies, concentrating, selecting main ideas, self-testing, organization, and managing anxiety,” (Proctor et al., 2006). When studying, college students employ a variety of these study strategies that they believe
There is an old adage that claims it is better to be safe than sorry. Most people living on planet Earth would agree. The art of preparation is a skill every old person wants the youth of America to possess. Business leaders want their employees to be better prepared. Simple everyday people want to be ready for all kinds of disasters that life may have in store for them. Someone who was trying to be wise once said, ¡°Dig the well before you are thirsty¡±. This person was obviously relatively smart. Preparation is an essential tool for making life a more positive experience.
I am applying to Seoul National University to continue the development of my critical learning skills and to broaden my knowledge base. I feel I am now ready to complete a degree, and understand what is required to function successfully in our environment. I realize that to advance from the world of undergraduate college curriculum to that of an atmosphere of higher education in graduate training, takes much of a prospective graduate student??s time and effort.
