Memory is part of our everyday lives, without it we would not know how to approach new experiences from past experiences in order to learn from them. Memory is acquired information we get from the world called acquisition and the way we keep the information is in our storage or in other words memory. I think it is important to have memory in order to learn and receive new information that happens everyday and remember what has once happened. Memory serves as part of our survival and success, thinking skills are required for the mind to do what is needed. An article Visual attention: Its role in memory and development made in January 2016 by professor Dima Amso explains “Visual attention orienting can be captured by external environmental stimuli and can also be driven by our own internal goals or plans “ (Amso,1), which explains how what we see around us helps us visualize our ambitions, goals and motivation to do things. Given that we do not realize we have conscious knowledge from our memory it can have an effect in how we feel about objects in the memories because of what already has occurred. Chunking is something we shouldn’t do because we just cram large information into meaningful units for our brains to remember for a short period of time. It is like forcing all this extra information into our memory as if it is going to hold when in reality it may not. In a study made in December 8, 2016 called Deep brain stimulation fails to improve memory in new study by The Wall Street journal assumes “A study published Wednesday in the journal Neuron suggests that a certain type of stimulation previously shown to improve memory might actually impair it. The findings highlight how nuanced and complicated modulating cognition can be, according to the researchers”(Journal,1), which shows that some deep brain stimulation tests have not helped treating diseases like Parkinson’s disease or Alzheimer’s disease.
