Students should be required to graduate High School
A Barista, an employee in a fast food restaurant, or a small welfare check are what most high school dropouts have to look forward to for income. Dropouts do not realize what meager wages lie ahead when they decide to quit school before a diploma. Many High School or High School bound students when asked would say that staying in High School until a diploma is earned is choice they should be able to make, not a law they must abide. Many adults who have some life experience would disagree with this and believe that students should be forced if necessary to stay in school until a diploma is earned. The negative impacts on society and students for dropping out or early exit of high school are numerous and grave. High school dropouts are a burden on society for many reasons, including finances and earn on average $260,000 less than those that graduate high school over a lifetime, according to National Education Association. Students who drop out before earning a high school diploma become society’s burden. “The average annual income for a high school dropout in 2009 was $19,540.00, compared to $27, 380.00 for a high school graduate” accord...

...companies and work sites everywhere. Also, everyone is entitled to an education and every avenue should be exhausted to ensure that a student stays in school and has the opportunities to learn.
All students need to receive a high school diploma. Their future as well as the future of the nation is dependent on this. The cost to ignore this problem is simply too great, as unemployment is extremely high and states and country can no longer supplement dropouts with income, food stamps and medical care. Perhaps when a student makes the decision to terminate education, they should be forced to waive future rights to financial aids; programs like food stamps, Medicaid, housing assistance or any financial aid provided by the federal govermnent or by a state. It is certain that the students headed for dropping out will be living in poverty. Federal aid pays very little.

High School Students Should Be Taught New Content Essay

- These last few weeks of class discussion have passed so quickly in my mind. Granted, the first week was completed online. Over the course of these last few weeks we have examined activities that were designed for high school students. As has been stated, these activities could easily be modified and made to be appropriate for middle school, as well as elementary, classrooms. In order to reflect upon the high school grade band, I would like to address the ideas of teachers using the background knowledge of students to teach new content, the continued importance of developing the spatial visualization skills of students, and how students and teachers alike should be avid reflectors, as these i...   [tags: Education, High school, Teacher, Mathematics]

- There are different types of high school graduates in America: some seniors already know what they are aiming for the future and some others wish not to know, while several others care less about their future – even if they are going to graduate in a couple of days. Few from the ones who are planning to go to college are just going to figure out themselves. Why go to college when you are just trying to figure out yourselves. Why should you not just take a year off for that. Taking a year off to refresh the brain would really help the students to decide on their future life....   [tags: Higher education, University, Academic degree]

- For the majority of high school students having the option to go home for lunch or to go somewhere to eat would be the ultimate dream.
