My top five strengths from StrengthsQuest are connectedness, developer, consistency, relater, and restorative. At first glance, I thought I had answered the questions wrong. This list did not seem to be my strengths. After reading the descriptions of each strength, I realized that all of these strengths reoccur throughout my life. The first strength of mine was connectedness. Connectedness means I believe that everything happens for a reason and that the universe is connected in some way. I believe that we are all children of God. I am not competitive when I play games it is for enjoyment not winning. I believe that relationships need to be on a solid foundation before building on them. I have used this strength many times in my life. One …show more content…
Recently, one of my friends called me after she had made a morally wrong decision. When she told me what was on her heart and the situation that was at hand, I prayed instantly. Then after that I began to remind her of her self-worth. I told her of my past situations that was similar. I reminded my friend that no matter what she did that God still loves her and all she needs to do is seek forgiveness and repent. In that moment, I felt the Holy Spirit take over and assist me with my strength. After the call, my friend texted me and informed me how much better she felt about life and herself in general. Another time in my life I used my developer strength was when I was president of my high school FCCLA chapter. During my term I had Core officers, officers, and members to be a leader for. Which was around forty to fifty people. I had to assign tasks to each individual. I had to use my developer strength to find who was good at what. Our chapter was very successful because I placed tasks with the best suited person in the group. I use this strength the most academically because my friends often come to me when they do not have the motivation to do their homework. When this happens I remind them of their strengths and how to tackle the issue using their …show more content…
I believe one of my calling is to be a counselor specifically for families of drug addicts and alcoholics. My strengths of relator, restorative, consistency, and developer would be used towards this calling. My strength relator would easily fit into my counseling calling because I could instruct the families on how to cope and live a normal life. My restorative strength would be used after the families share their story and need advice. I would be able to use my strength to move the families into the right direction. Consistency is very valuable with counseling because the families would have someone who is able to listen on a steady basis. This is important because this creates a firm foundation that the families could build on. The developer strength would help me achieve my call because I would listen to what the families needed before I would lead them in a better direction. I would also be able to use my other strength of connectedness through my explanation that everything happens for a reason and sharing the
These strengths and weaknesses were mainly discovered through the papers that we have written. I have many strengths when I’m writing papers and at the same time, I have many weaknesses. In my papers, I have noticed that one of my biggest strengths is how articulate I am. The papers that have been written by myself show that I structured sentences to present ideas in different ways. It is not straightforward and boring when ideas are presented. I like to keep the reader hooked on my paper. In order to keep up with this strength, I like to read articles. The articles I read are typically the ones that present new ideas or start arguments. This is one of my strengths that I am very proud
After taking the Gallup Strength test and having conversations with other people with different strength, I realized how my strengths helped me build my identity. My strengths are Restorative, Responsibility, Strategic, Belief, and Deliberative. These strengths awaken my spiritual eyes to understand what God has created me to be. The Restorative strength focuses on solving problems, the Responsibility strength focuses on taking ownership for successes and failures. The Strategic strength focuses on identifying the true route of a problem. The Belief strength focuses on unchangeable core values. The Deliberative strength focuses on personal consciousness of the mind. These strengths evaluates my character as a responsible, logical, and compassionate man.
I feel like this is an accurate assessment of my personality and I think this is a characteristic that will be beneficial to me when I am in the counseling profession. This is a characteristic that I relate to counselors and advocating for clients. Empathy was listed as my second strength. Empathy means being able to sense or feel other’s feelings and being able to imagine yourself in another person’s situation. I know that this will be beneficial for me as a counselor because empathy is one of the most crucial characteristics for the therapeutic relationship. Input is my third strength. This means that I am inquisitive, naturally curious, and seek information about many things. I think this is helpful for me as a counselor because we are expected to be life-long learners and actively continue our education. Connectedness was my fourth strength and it means that people who have this strength believe that all people are connected and that we are responsible for others. It also
My five strengths according to the strength finder include; balance, this helps me be aware of treating all people equally regardless of the situation. I am neither in anyone 's favor or against anyone as this to me is selfishness and individualism. This would result in a situation where some people scale heights due to connections while others are lagging behind. I believe that a consistent environment where the rules apply to everyone is the best for individuals to function best (Rath, 2007). Flexibility is my next strength. By knowing that things do not always work out as planned has helped me change the tactics of how I perform my tasks. I do not always expect to have a smooth flow of opportunities or accomplish goals, but
My top strength is Individualization. To me, this strength means the ability to figure people out and understand the true uniqueness of others. With this strength, I am able to make things run smoothly and, at the same time, able to involve everyone in a group. The next strength I have is strategic, which enables me to find alternative ways to deal with problems. Therefore, I am also able to make things run smoothly and according to plan. In addition to these two strengths, my third strength is competitive which measures how successful I am compared against others. This is great because it helps me to endure and work hard in order to make it to the top. My fourth strength is restorative which is a talent that helps me to deal with any problems that may arise and ensure that things continue going according to plan. This strength means that I can endure and overcome any adversity that comes my way. My last strength is achiever. This is a strength that helps me to work hard and always be productive. Being an achiever maintains my ability to always keep going and to constantly feel the need to be productive.
Some strengths that stand out the most in my personal life are, how I love to serve and give freely to benefit others, whether it is donating money or paying close attention to events that happen to surprise my friends with little gifts, I enjoy brightening someone's day. I am known as
Prior to this course I had no knowledge of the strength theory nor did I look at people with the intention of identifying and building upon their strengths. Like many others, I focused on weaknesses and how I could improve them; my inner drive for perfection left me with no other choice. However, in light of my new found knowledge, I am excited to not only continue my own work as a student and professional, but to also use this insight as a lens for how I view those I work with and those that work under me. The strengths theory and strengths psychology are an incredible and radical way of approaching work and relationships. It is an exciting, inspiring, and forgiving approach to humanity and life. Donald Clifton and Chip Anderson’s StrengthsQuest (2004) revolutionized the way I view myself and the way I look at others. I am confident that I have not only developed a deeper understanding of what I am good at, but also why I am good at it. I feel an increased sense of confidence that I can tackle any challenges that come my way because I know how to apply what I am good at and I need not wallow in what I am not good at it. Similarly, it facilitated a deeper understanding of how to relate to my coworkers and the staff I supervise by seeking out what they are good at and asking them to do that. It has been a morale booster in my work place and has undeniably increased the outcomes of my employee’s performance. In the following, I will identify my top five strengths and describe the ways in which they present themselves in both my academic and professional lives. I will share the ways in which I anticipate that I wi...
Another strength that I have is being an active listener. I listened to my clients and utilized a lot of micro skills. Insuring confidentiality was also a strength that I developed closer to the end of field placement. Conducting assessments and making sure I tracked and exhausted the topics was also a strength that I identified throughout field. Practicing from a strengths perspective was also another area I excelled at when working with my clients. A skill that I could work on is being more conscious of self in terms of body language during interviews, because at times I find myself with my arms cross which may give an indication that I’m closed off or
After completing the Clifton strength finders test, I learned my dominant strengths and it gave me a sense on what areas I am strong in. It allows you to work in the areas that you are good in and not in the ones you might not be as strong in. My top five strengths were learner, connectedness, belief, positivity, and includer. A lot of these I figured I would have because I am an athlete and I love to be positive. That is good because I practice these strengths every day which in turn will make me better at them and will allow me to use them in my career.
The StrengthsFinder is a self-report assessment that determines five top strengths for each person. It is very rare that two people get the same set of five strengths, so this analysis is very reliable. My top five strengths from the StrengthsFinder assessment were restorative, empathy, input, relator, and responsibility. I think I possess a little bit of each of these traits. Restorative is when a person seeks out solutions to their problems. I always eradicate complications that arise in my life. I tend to be empathetic with people who are close to me; I can feel their pain and sadness. I find that many people come to me when they need advice, and I love making people feel better. Input refers to my curiosity. I enjoy collecting interesting items and learning about new places 0r subjects. It can be very difficult for me to part ways with objects from my childhood because I have memories around everything. Relator accounts to my close relationships with others. I like getting to know others on a closer basis. I feel very comfortable and secure in genuine relationships. Finally, I am a responsible person. I always finish my work and believe that accountability is important. I believe that the StrengthsFinder accurately names my
An individual’s top five strengths are characteristics that generate the most intense instinctual response. I believe that the five strengths that i received correspond and resonate strongly with my character. Those themes that received my strongest instinctual responses are: communication, positivity, woo, includer, and harmony strengths after completion of the Strengthsfinder assessment. The five themes can be seen as rather similar, and they are, but individually the unique differences are definitively seen in my character, and as a whole have an even greater response than when seen just individually.
The results of the StrengthsQuest assessment were very interesting. In fact, I was surprised by how accurately the talents aligned with my goals and personality. My top five strengths were futuristic, input, arranger, responsibility, and intellection. I define futuristic as always thinking about the next steps or thinking about how my actions in the present will affect my future. Also, I define input as offering my perspective on things especially issues that I feel strongly about. Next, I define arranger as someone who likes to brings ideas together and consider the logistics when planning things. Furthermore, I define responsibility as doing the right thing and looking out for others. Lastly, I define intellection as a strength in someone
After learning about my strengths, I realized how much I actually use my strengths in everyday life. My strengths include individualization, strategic, relator, includer and arranger.
In reviewing my top strengths in the Survey of Character Strengths, there are four items that stand out for me and they are spirituality, hope, fairness and caution.
And that makes me a hard worker, because I take time and effort to know the person better and lead that person in the right way in order to complete a task successfully. Being an extrovert would be the second emotional intelligence strength, because it helps me to communicate with others and help them to the right way. The last strength I have is that, “I think before I act”. It helps me to make less mistakes in work place. It would also help to be a good
