The story of the Minotaur is interesting, extraordinary in a strange way and mysterious. In Greek Mythology, Greek People believed that the Minotaur is born as half human and half bull, his body was a human and his head was a bull because of his mother was in love with a bull. For this purpose, the legend of Minotaur was born. This monster was basically useless; all he did was killing and eating people when he became hungry since he had no source for food. The Minotaur was violent and evil towards the town also, he was the major problem in that time for the old generation. The king Minos told his engineer Daedalus to build and design a strong enough prison of complicated passages under the city of Crete to run around and get lost therefore …show more content…

Young generations are clever, smart, and energetic to understand the problems more clearly without biased opinion to help solve the problems with drugs dangers. I think we have to educate the generations after us In order to know the harmful side effects of the drugs and understand the symptoms of the drugs. Evidently, it is going to make the current generation teach and educate the next generations that drugs are bad and using them can risks your life. For example, the parents warn and advise their children about the drugs risks while they are being raised and grown up. As a result, it is assisting the newer generations to discontinue the disadvantages of drugs addiction, and believe that drugs can take your whole life forever. New generations have to be aware of the drugs risks to stay on the right path, staying away from drugs. In addition, the young generations have to prevent the dangers of drugs addiction before it’s inevitable for older generations and newer generations. New generations should have programs in school nowadays about the danger of the drugs and how to deal with them. Moreover, New generations should advise and warn their friends if they notice things like unusual activities around. Also, the new generations have to be extremely careful with friends who use drugs because in fact they
The Minotaur locked in the labyrinth is a filthy creature intent on killing anyone in the labyrinth. Any Athenians sent into the labyrinth had virtually little to no chance of ever coming out alive. The Athenians would either be killed by the Minotaur or decompose inside of the labyrinth because the labyrinth is a structure of interconnected passages through which it is difficult to find your way. Theseus is willing to exchange spots with one of the Athenian soldiers to kill the Minotaur (Garcia Sec.4). As myth follows, Theseus did kill the Minotaur, but what if Theseus cowered out and made a deal with the Minotaur. It is very possible for the Minotaur to fake his own death and attempt to live a normal life outside of the labyrinth. There could be the slightest possibility that a half bull and half man to walk the face of the earth and adapt with his social ineptness to mingle with human society (Sherrill).
It was very difficult to find a way out. Theseus was in search of the bull also known as the Minotaur which meant it was half bull, half human and doing so he succeeded in the task by murdering the Minotaur and also finding a way out of the labyrinth thanks to the help of Ariadne. Theseus quest of fighting the Minotaur was completed. He went out of his own way to kill a monster that was terrorizing the people of Athens. Theseus was just like any other hero; having ups and downs. Theseus was going through a difficult time. He had went to visit the Underworld only to be tricked by Hades and sit in a chair. The chair was named The Chair of Forgetfulness (Hamilton 219). Theseus stayed in this chair for long while and were not able to arise from it. Hercules who came to the rescue and removed Theseus from the chair, only to see him grow as a god and to show him that he could get up and be a better hero and reflect on his decisions in life. Theseus was not only seeking glory and fame for his accomplishments he also seemed a love life. He married a women named Phaedra, who was Ariadne’s sister. Theseus was humble “A strong affection grew up at once between father and son (220). Theseus is brave for getting up and continuing his life and not giving up, he has a heart and loves his son. Theseus is the better hero because not only does he help his community he also has a heart and loves his family and seeks to do greater. He knows right from wrong and makes mistakes but he sticks to his decision and does not go back on
The myths which prove the contradictory behavior of the gods, acting as both benefactors and tormentors of man, can readily be explained when viewed in light of the prime directive for man, to worship the gods and not “overstep,” and the ensuing “Deus ex Mahina” which served to coerce man to fulfill his destiny as evidenced by the myths: “Pandora,” “Arachne, and “Odysseus.” Humankind and it’s range of vision over the gods beauty and power portrayed them to be benefactors but unseemingly it depicted their affliction towards humans.
Theseus first displays his heroic nature when he was seven years old. Hercules came home and took of his lion’s skin. Convincing as it looks, Theseus friends ran away. “Theseus quickly grabbed an axe and fiercely attacked it” (244). Theseus was ready to risk his life at the age of seven. Theseus friends were terrified but Theseus showed them that he was fearless. Many thrive to obtain the characteristic of fearless and are willing to do anything to achieve the title. Perseus announces that he has no family wealth for the king but Perseus can offer his service. “I would even kill the terrible Gorgon Medusa”(200). Perseus behead the mortal Gorgon with one slice of his sharp sickle. Perseus risked his life just to prove his loyalty and courage. Theseus is a number of heroic things such as strong, selfless etc. Most importantly he is fearless and continuously is able to display it through his actions. Theseus courageously and fearlessly volunteered himself to kill the Minotaur just like how he killed Marathon. This shows that he’s not afraid to kill anyone. He was admired by many, including the Athenians due to his courage and honour. Theseus was known to defeat extremely difficult
Some background information on the Minoans civilization is that Sir Arthur Evans gave the Minoan name “named after King Minos, a legendary king of Crete in Greek mythology” back in the 1900s” (Wallenfels and Sasson 1). Sir Arthur Evans got interested in the Minoans and how we
Drugs are not only a problem for older generations, but often times those in younger generations become involved in the drug trade as well. According to Anderson (1990), “Children who become deeply engaged in t...
Young people are using mood-changing substances at an increasingly younger age. Persistent substance abuse among youth is often accompanied by a plethora of problems, including school related hardships, health-related problems, poor family relationships, mental health issues, and run-ins with the justice system. There are also significant consequences involving the community, and society in general. Studies show drug use at a young age increases the desire to abuse as you get older. Society looks at drugs as being a taboo, which is the norm for our country. However other countries see drug use as a way of connection with oneself and others in another realm. Now whether drug use is harmless or harmful is a matter of your personal preference.
...substance abuse must continue, and it is imperative that more teens are educated about different substances and their effects on physical, mental appearances. More educational classes are now needed because of the risk of losing an entire generation to the streets and world of drugs and alcohol. The slow but sure takeover of drugs and alcohol is a problem than can be obtained if proper precautions are put into place. If we, as America’s team, act now to stop to the spread of meth, alcohol, and other fast increasing substances, there will be hope for America’s future.
The little and lack of understanding of drugs is what has us as people constantly abusing them. Even if you try to educate people about the problems that deal with drugs they will still do them because of the benefits that they offer or just because they feel like doing them. From past experience I can say that schools at a young age teach students about the drugs but because the words and terms for the brain and areas that are affected by the drugs are so complicated I can see why kids at a younger age would not understand them. Maybe if we find a way we can educate our future generation we might be able to stop the abuse of drugs. Enforcing laws like we have on marijuana might help or lessen the abuse of drugs but we have to find way to help stop the abuse of certain drugs in order to prosper our lives and futures.
Drugs cause an overall disturbance in a subjects’ physiological, psychological and emotional health. “At the individual level, drug abuse creates health hazards for the user, affecting the educational and general development of youths in particular” (“Fresh Challenge”). In youth specifically, drug abuse can be triggered by factors such as: a parent’s abusive behavior, poor social skills, family history of alcoholism or substance abuse, the divorce of parents or guardians, poverty, the death of a loved one, or even because they are being bullied at school (“Drugs, brains, and behavior”) .
Drug use as well as drug abuse is on a constant rise. There is a wide spread misunderstanding about drugs. Many believe a drug is something that the government has said is illegal to use or consume. However this is not entirely true. A drug is any chemical you take that affects the way your body works. Alcohol, caffeine, aspirin and nicotine are all drugs. A drug must be able to pass from your body into your brain. Once inside your brain, drugs can change the messages your brain cells are sending to each other, and to the rest of your body. They do this by interfering with your brain's own chemical signals, I will discuss this further later on in the paper.
In the 2010 movie “Clash of the Titans” a man named Perseus discovers he is the son of Zeus, and is called upon the doomed city of Argos to save them from Hades and the monster known as the Kraken, set upon them by Zeus after the royals of the city insulted the gods; Perseus, tasked with finding a way to defeat the Kraken, went and cut of the head of Medusa, and used it to turn the monster to stone; and with the help of his father, sent Hades, who had betrayed Zeus, back to the underworld. The ancient greek tale which the movie was based on had a king Acrisius that was told that someday he would be killed and overthrown by his grandson; upon hearing this he imprisoned his beautiful daughter, Danae, in a dungeon, where she was visited and impregnated by Zeus; discovering the newborn child, the king locked Danae and his grandson in a chest and threw them in the ocean, where they were rescued by a fisherman, whom Danae married and they raised Perseus; to save his mother from a cruel king, he agreed to recover the head of a gorgon, which he did; on his way home he he
... the physical and mental health of Americans and threatening the future of the United States, which is a consensus of most Americans. The peculiarity of drugs determines that they can’t be legalized in the society like cigarette and alcohol, and the degree of dependence of drug users on drugs far surpasses that of alcohol. Therefore, it is a kind of dangerous and inadvisable choice to legalize drugs. The comparatively radical reform schemes proposed by people, who insist on legalizing drugs, can't be adopted and accepted by the government and most people either. The extreme complexity and chronicity of drug issue and how to control the spreading of drugs should still depend on the unification of the whole society’s understanding on this issue as well as the settlement of other social issues related to drugs. It definitely does more harm than good to legalize drugs.
