It has always been my belief that inquisitiveness has been the foundation in the evolution of mankind. Right from my childhood, my curiosity and the hunger for knowledge has been ever-growing. In this ever changing world driven by the advancements in Engineering and Technology, the role of a mechanical engineer is imperative. I have always craved to play an effective part in this thriving field of Mechanical engineering as I have been captivated with machines and wonder as the technology is always evolving and one has to adapt to its changes in order to live life in the fast lane. I enjoyed meddling with things like my toys as well as things that were not meant to be toys like the table clocks, television remote controller, radio etc. Disassembling and examining them was habitual for which I was chided regularly by my parents, owing to the fact that it often led to its obliteration. I always enjoyed analyzing and understanding the working of Automobiles, beginning from experimenting on my toys to mending my bike I perceived ‘Mechanical Engineering’, the only way to gratify my pursuit for knowledge and contribute.
My quest for education and propensity towards applied science steered me to plump for physics, chemistry and mathematics in my higher secondary education. After the completion of my secondary education, I sensed that Engineering would be the area, which would bestow me the opportunity to learn and explore how scientific principles and theories are applied to create technology for practical and real purposes. Right from high school I had an inclination towards the engineering domain, especially in the field of Mechanical Engineering. Although being a girl, I opted for Mechanical since I believed in being creative and curiosity got the better of me as I was always interested in finding how things worked and was very much interested in fixing broken toys and machines. The Master’s degree program provides intensive preparation for professional practice in a broad spectrum of high-technology areas of Mechanical Engineering. When I am presented with a challenge or a problem, I would first tackle it with the first few ideas that I come up with. If those ideas do not solve the problem, then I would take a few minutes to myself and think. I would ask my friends on their opinions and ideas to add to my thought process. After all that, I would approach the problem again and see if it can be solved. A mechanical engineer’s job is to solve problems and think. I love to solve problems and think. Solving issues have always been a strength of mine. Mechanical engineers want to find the solution to a problem as quickly as possible so it can be resolved. If their first method does not work, they think of another and hope that works.
