“Dream, Dream and Dream. Dream transforms into thoughts. Thoughts results into action.” This famous quote by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam is an inspiration for my life. After graduating my engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University with flying colors, my next obvious dream was to pursue masters in my favorite subject VLSI. But I was of the opinion that I should gain some practical exposure by working in a research oriented organization to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and corporate world. I was fortunate enough to get placed in my dream company CISCO and got the opportunity to work on cutting edge technology related to System on Chips (SOCs). After 3 years of work experience, I realized to have met the transition point where the next stepping stone requires in depth knowledge about a particular field. My colleagues have encouraged my aspiration and feel that I have the potential for pursuing graduate studies. My proclivity towards science started from my childhood. It was in my high school, I built my first AM radio which fascinated me about electronic devices. Fortuitously, this motivated me to move further and study about electrons, working of diode and transistor without knowing that it would be a stepping stone to my career in the field of electronics. All this was a bonus for me apart from good academic results. I was the college topper scoring 100 percent marks in both science and math. I was also placed in the top 100 among the 1 lakh students who took engineering entrance examination. I was in my 12th standard, when I heard a speech from Sir Abdul Kalam about “Education with Values” it made me take up science as a career seriously particularly Electronics and Communication as my major in Bachelor of Engin... ... middle of paper ... ...ong engineering foundation. The Computer Engineering Program promotes the integration of computer hardware and software. I want to be in a team which accepts design-oriented challenges and demonstrates the skills acquired during the course of study. The research programs at “Greenscale Center for Energy-efficient Computing” and “Institute of Energy Efficiency” are really inspiring and supporting to take up research in the field of VLSI design. The curriculum combines basic concepts with hands-on experience to provide students with a better understanding of the work. I feel that graduate study at your university will be the most logical extension of my academic pursuits and a major step towards achieving my objectives. I would be grateful to you if I am given the opportunity to pursue my graduate studies at your institution and am able to justify your faith in me.
