My unflagging interest in computers began at the age of 9 when I was among the 4 students selected to represent my class in a computer quiz. With each new question posed ,I found my curiosity further piqued and found myself captivated by the vastness of technology and amazed by what technology could offer. In order to quench my new found thirst for computers, I started reading books like the basics of DOS & Internet Programming .I also read novels like Prey by Michael Crichton which explored the concept of AI and Deception point by Dan Brown which introduced me to the world of cryptography .Although these books were fictional, it nevertheless enthralled me and motivated me to explore the potential of technology. By the end of high school, I was well-versed with the concepts of HTML and javascript and was conversant with MS Office applications. In order to further hone my skills and knowledge in the field of computers, I decided to pursue an undergraduate degree in Information Technology. Owing to a good score of 92% in Physics, Chemistry and Math, I was accepted into the prestigious Vivekanand Education Society Institute of Technology which is among the top 5 universities in Mumbai, India. Through this medium, I was exposed to the full range of engineering courses from java, Data Structures, C++ to Operating Systems, Network Technology and Web Programming. Under the guidance of my professors, I undertook case studies on CORBA, reverse software engineering, wireless LAN, swarm intelligence and IP security. Through these projects, I was able to rediscover my strong predisposition for research. The challenging academic environment propelled me to innovate and experiment .This is evidenced by the myriad of projects I ventured into in... ... middle of paper ... ...ards to optimization, performance and memory limitations. My academic as well as professional pursuits did not prevent me from participating in extra-curricular activities .During college I participated in intra college sports activities and was a part of the girls team for basketball ,cricket and dodge-ball . Being the event head for a quiz competition during my technical festival as well as being a part of the publicity team for ‘People’s week’ in SAP impressed upon me the importance of time management and organization and helped in shaping up my interpersonal skills. I was a volunteer for an NGO devoted to the cause of helping terminally ill patients, spent a day interacting with the students from the Blind School of Karnataka, organized activities for the residents of Cheshire Old Age Home and was a part of the initiative to aid the pupils of a juvenile home.
