Utah is the 45th state in the USA. It became a state on January 4, 1896. The abbreviation of the state Utah is UT. Salt Lake City is the capital of Utah. Salt Lake City is also the largest city in Utah. Utah is the 13th largest state in the USA. Utah’s total population is 2,223,169. Utah is the 34th most populated state in the US. Utah’s major industries are oil, natural gases, mining coal, copper, iron ore, silver, gold, steelmaking, farming cattle, sheep, dairy products, and tourism. Utah’s major rivers are Colorado River and the Green River. Utah’s major lakes are Great Salt Lake, Lake Powell, and Utah Lake. The highest point in Utah is the King’s peak which is 13,528 ft high. Utah has 29 counties. Utah’s bordering states are Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, and Wyoming. The origin name of Utah is from the Ute Indians. Utah’s state nickname is the Beehive state. Utah’s state motto is “industry”. Utah’s state song is “Utah, We Love Thee”. Utah’s state flag was adopted in 1913. The flag has a deep blue field with the seal in the center of it, surrounded by a yellow circle. The state seal was designed by Harry Emmett Edwards in 1896. In the center of the flag has a bald eagle on top of a beehive, symbolizing hard work. The word “INDUSTRY” and the date 1847 and 1896 are on the flag as well. Utah’s state bird is the California sea gull. Utah’s state animal is the rocky mountain elk. Utah’s state fish is the Bonneville cutthroat trout. Utah’s state insect is the honey bee.
