Target Market:
• Many of the locations are located in the cities to target the educated, career oriented consumers. Starbucks’ target primary market is men and women aged 25 to 40 which make up 49%, then young adults age 18 to 24 are 40% and kids and teens, age 13 to 17 are 2% of the market.

• Adults buy our product because of the design, advertising and décor of the business and the premium products. Young adults in college like to study, hang out, and meet people. Kids and teens like to indulge in the sugary, whipped cream coffee drinks.

The brand which was founded in 1971 has established itself as the world’s leading specialty coffee brand with its more than 13000 outlets in 39 countries. The company has had an impressive record of sales and growth also. Something that differentiates Starbucks from others is its coffee as well as the special Starbucks experience. Starbucks serves more than just coffee. It is also known for the relaxing ambience where the customers can relax and sip with their friends. Starbucks is famous for its genuine service, inviting atmosphere and of course superb coffee. The company is committed to quality and it is due to its commitment to quality that its product pricing is also premium. However, despite the premium prices of its products the brand is loved around the world by the customers for the quality of products that it serves.

For my analysis, I chose to write about Starbucks Coffee Company and its mission statement. Starbucks’ mission statement reads, “To inspire and nurture the human spirit – one person, one cup and one neighborhood at a time.” We all know that Starbucks has enjoyed a huge amount of growth over the past 10+ years, and it is clear that they are seeing that success because they are putting their mission into action. Reading the mission statement, it’s easy to identify Starbucks’ areas of focus: the human spirit, coffee, and community. The company’s “About Us” web pages align with its mission statement.
There are plenty of options for consumers and allows them to pick whatever they want to drink. With coffee shops all over the world and almost every corner, in addition to growing number of Starbucks stores, it may not be as special to consumers as it once was. Buyers have the power to choice between low cost or high quality, which forces companies to choose a strong and consistent strategy.
Starbucks is currently the industry leader in specialty coffee. They purchased more high quality coffee beans than anyone else in the world and keep in good standings with the producers to ensure they get the best beans. Getting the best beans is only the first part, Starbucks also has a “closed loop system” that protects the beans from oxygen immediately after roasting to the time of packaging. They did this through their invention of a one-way valve which let the natural gasses escape but keeping oxygen out. This gave them the unique ability to ensure freshness and extended the shelf life to 26 weeks. Starbucks isn’t only about the coffee, it’s also about a place where people can escape to enjoy music, reflect, read, or just chat. It is a total coffee experience. The retail outlet has been responsible for much of Starbucks growth and has contributed substantially to their brand equity.
Mr. Donald states that one of the main goals of Starbucks is to expose the world to the coffee production/industry in Africa by showcasing African coffee name brands. However, there is evidence that points to the real goal that goal, simply put, is greed. They have become the largest player in the coffee industry and is still looking for avenues to expand themselves.
As we know, Starbucks has made a name for itself making and selling coffee and specialty coffee drinks. It has made its biggest impression by becoming the espresso expert and public educator of how to make the perfect espresso; "Roasters" of the company are trained for one year.
