The world without coffee is such a tasteless world. Nowadays, coffee is consumed all over the world, and it is also one of the most crucial product in world trade. Coffee not only helps people relieve stress, but also makes them feel happier. Many customers, including officers, workers, and students get attracted to coffee due to its unique taste. As a result, more coffee shops are opened every day in this country. There are a lot of well-known coffee shops in America, namely, Dunkin Pumpkin, Cafe Du Monde, Four Barrel Coffee, and so on. Among those, Starbucks is the largest coffeehouse company not only in America, but also in the world. Why is it so successful? Although Starbucks started from a corner coffee shop, the company’s mission and goals have allowed it to succeed in becoming the world’s biggest coffee shop.
According to “Starbucks Research Report,” Starbucks Coffee Company was founded on March 30, 1971 in Seattle’s Pike Place Market (4). Its original name was Starbucks Coffee, Tea and Spices, and later on it was changed to Starbucks Coffee Company. The first founders of Starbucks were English teacher Jerry Baldwin, history teacher Zev Siegl, and writer Gordon Bowker (“Research Report” 4). The three were inspired by coffee roasting entrepreneur Alfred Peet to sell high-quality coffee beans and equipment. At first, Starbucks focused more on the sale of coffee beans and brewing equipment rather than selling prepared coffee. However, when Howard Shultz (present chairman) joined the company in 1982, he convinced the company to sell pre-made coffee. Starbucks Coffee Company had come a long journey before it reached the massive success. At the beginning, Starbucks was just a corner coffee shop. However, the Starbucks CEO and employees have utilized many different factors to turn it into the world’s biggest coffee shop. As mentioned previously, Starbucks became the extraordinary coffee shop due to the high quality coffee, great customer service, relaxing atmosphere, pleasant decoration, and enjoyable music. Additionally, the employees keep working hard tirelessly and always bring the best quality to the customers. As a result, Starbucks has achieved its significant success today. Eventually, Starbucks deserves to rank number one in the coffee market worldwide.
