During the sensorimotor stage infants learn how to understand the world through coordinating their sensory skills. This stage occurs from birth to about 2 years of age. In this stage of development there are 6 substages. The substages include; simple reflexes, primary circular reactions, secondary circular reactions, coordination of secondary circular reactions, tertiary circular reactions, and internalization of schemes. Each of these substages occur 4 months a part. The first substage, the simple reflex, (birth – 1 month) is the coordinating of reflexes through sucking and grasping. Primary circular reactions (1-4 months) is the reoccur of an event or habit, like the repeating of kicking a mobile or sucking your thumb. Secondary circular reactions (4-8 months) is where infants become more aware of objects. Coordination of secondary circular reactions (8-12 months), this is where hand eye coordination starts. Tertiary circular reactions (12-18 months) is where babies become intrigued with the properties of objects, like spinning or tossing a object. Internalization of schemes (18-24 months) is the ability to use mental representations.

For this last stage, devising an activity is more difficult and harder to come up with. A task you can ask 11 to 15 year old to do could be making a schedule of their daily route. This could allow the child to understand better time management skills and will help them in staying on time for future things. The main objective of the activity is basically as stated to help them understand how fast time goes by and the importance of schedules.
In Conclusion, the concept of time is difficult to teach. Time is something in essence you have to learn through experience. Children in the final stage of Piaget processes understand time more thoroughly than younger kids. In the last stage they have had some experience and recognize the concept of time.
