For my “How to do” speech my goal was to share with the class an interesting and informative way to learn something new. Due to the speeches time limit, I knew I needed to be well prepared. I wanted to be less nervous before and during my speech. While presenting I was nervous, but I didn’t really have time for these feelings to sink in because I was focused on the information I wanted to share with the audience. I enjoyed presenting in the second group of speeches so I could see my peers different types of speaking style. The audience seemed alert and interested in my topic which made it a little bit easier for me to speak, because there weren’t any distractions in the room from people not paying attention. He also used humor to capture the audience 's attention which made even made the faculty laugh. I noticed while watching that it seemed that he would look down to his notes throughout the speech. One of my favorite quotes in his speech was “I hope you find the courage to decide for yourself what is right and what is wrong, and then please, expect as much of the world around you. Try to make the world good according to your standards.” Colbert seemed confident throughout his speech and gave encouragement to the audience in a very relaxed way. He gave strong eye contact throughout his speech and overall delivered a strong commencement speech.
In conclusion, I have learned a lot from studying the different ways to deliver a speech and how to capture an audience 's attention. I was personally encouraged by both speakers and found their delivery to be relaxed but powerful, and interesting throughout their entire speech. Both used humor to capture the audience 's attention which I find to be smart to get both the audience and speaker to become relaxed. I have taken away many tips by watching these speeches and now look forward to making
