College is hard, scary, and stressful especially with children involved. I think it is a good thing I went to college when I did otherwise, I would be stuck in the same minimum wage job that I have had for the past year. It is going to be hard and stressful but the truth is that were all scared. It is just a matter of pushing myself into getting where I want to be. My main fear with college is mainly flunking out, it is scary but, it is also achievable. I thought to myself, “Hey, if my best friend can go to college then why I can I not”. There was three things that pushed me into going to college. Those are: getting a better job so I can spoil my children, continuing my education, and to be a role model for my children.
One of the most controversial topics of the century hinges on one simple question: What makes the world go round? Most will jump to say money. Some will argue in favor of their religion. Others will point out scientific facts. The truth is, none are correct. One emotion, one aspect of life shines above the others, extending its light on merely half of our beloved globe, leaving the other semi-circle to deal with pitch black: fear. To understand its impact, society’s definition of fear must be perceived. Fear is officially defined as an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something dangerous will harm him/her. However, with his classic novel, Alan Paton shows that it extends far beyond that. An old man by the name of Stephen Kumalo leaves the comfort of his tribe in Ndotsheni, and embarks on a

Then the radio turns off, and the film explains to him that these effects are just temporary (Atomic Café). This shows the widespread fear that Americans had about the atomic bomb – so much that the United States’ government was forced to release films to help calm the fear of its citizens. Another way the invention of the atomic bomb influenced citizens was with the tool of “duck and cover”. The movie shows a cartoon turtle ducking and covering when an atomic bomb is going off (Atomic Café). This was clearly intended for children, and would seemingly give them a false sense of security.

In addition, the Cold War is what brought this fear. Elaine Tyler May says that it has become an obsession to gain security. She says that because of fear, movements, such as feminism and black equality, prevented these individuals from being fully accepted into society as equals. I believe that fear has only distracted America from these movements of becoming fully successful. The article also refers to America being less of a democracy by citizens refusing to have faith in their government and refusing to trust one another. Reputedly, fear is what shaped America the way it is

“Cold War is the period of ideological, economical confrontation and military competition between USSR and USA and their allies. ”(1) It was American journalist Walter Lippmann who firstly named the conflict as a ‘Cold War’ for the reason that there was no direct military warfare between these two countries which was unwanted because it could led to the nuclear war. However, this period was famous for the number of proxy wars around the world such as Korean War, Vietnam War, and Soviet-Afghan War.
By another account, the Cold War began in 1917 with the Bolshevik Revolution, and ended in 1991 with the collapse of the Soviet Union, having been a conflict between Bolshevism and Democracy. The Cold War got its name because both sides were afraid of fighting each other in such a “hot war”, nuclear weapons might destroy everything. So, instead, they fought each other indirectly. They played havoc with conflicts in different parts of the world. They used words as weapons.

I have never made friends easily in my life. I was shy, I was afraid to talk to people, and I was scared to be with large groups of people. My parents and I thought that this was just a phase and I would grow out of it. As the years went by however, the fear of talking to other people had only increased. It was at its worst when I went on a trip to Washington D.C. my middle school has every year for the eighth graders. During that trip in early June, there was a dance that was mandatory. I really didn’t want to go because I knew I would just be sitting in the corner, bored out of my mind. I thought this dance was just going to be another event where I was bored, but at the time I had no idea this dance would be one of the most important events of my
A recent UK survey by Go Glow involving 2,000 adults concluded that four out of ten of us are frightened to walk around the house in pitch black. In this research, people said that the biggest causes of this irrational fear of the dark was watching a scary movie, being home alone, and hearing sudden noises in the middle of the night. 10% said the dark frightens the dark so much that they wouldn't even go to the toilet in the dark. Although many adults are embarrassed to admit this dread, this fright of the dark is completely rational, and it is mainly not because of lurking monsters, strange noises, scary movies, or Chucky, but rather because of evolutionary development, fear of the unknown and heightened vulnerability.
