Softball is not the same thing as baseball.
The first question I get when I tell people I play softball is, “Isn't that the same thing as baseball?”. Yeah, no. Softball is completely different than baseball. First off, in softball, the pitcher pitches underhand instead of overhand (like in baseball ). Second, in softball, the pitching rubber is 43 feet away from the plate instead of 60.5 feet away from the plate. Also, you can lead off the bases in baseball, which are 90 feet away, and you cannot in softball, where the bases are only 60 feet away. Another major difference is that the balls are different. In softball the ball is 11 or 12 inches in diameter (11 for younger, 12 for older) and it is yellow. In baseball the ball is white, and smaller than a tennis ball.. So as you can see, softball IS NOT the same thing as baseball.

Softball is very time-consuming.

Softball is more time consuming than you would think. It takes up most of my year even in the summer, so once you add school, homework, siblings, and sleep into your life, my schedule is overflowing. We chatted for a little bit, and we brought back some fond memories. One thing I will never forget about softball even if I were to quit the sport itself, is the experience. I have gotten to travel a whole lot more than many girls my age and I have had many experiences that have taught me new things on and off the field. One of the most important things I've created through softball, are the lifelong bonds with some pretty amazing people. The players, the coaches, and the parents are amazing. You all come together to welcome each other into one big huge family that will help each other out no matter what.
