For this reason, I would like to dedicate my life to helping fellow military families during their hardships, but also reminding them that there is positivity in every situation. I embody many desireable qualities to this profession, such as honesty, loyalty and experience. I have experienced military life, I know what many of these families are going through, and it is something that is near and dear to my heart which altered me as a person forever. Introduction There have been some challenges in trying to figure out the right approach to follow in a research study, and this semester is more of an eye opener that reveals the expected ways in conducting research, which has been a very interesting and tough process. The four major search strategies available for locating references related to the chosen topic issues: (1) consultation, (2) searches in subject indexes, (3) browsing, and (4) footnote chasing. I knew I loved to help others but it was not until I was an emerging adult that I knew what my calling was. Getting an education is essential to becoming a good social worker. Social workers need cultural competency in working with every type of population including people of different ethnicities, race, gender, sexually identity, sexual orientation and socioeconomic status. We also need enough education in order to advocate and be comfortable advocating for our clients. Our LGBT clients go through obstacles that straight people will never have to go to such as fighting for the right to marry, getting picked on in school and trying to prove to people that their sexual orientation is a real thing. Choosing a career is a very important aspect to people’s lives. They must possess the ability to make ethical decisions within various contexts of the profession. This can vary from clinical work in either a mental health facility to child welfare in human service agencies.
My interest in social work stems from a love of volunteering that I possessed ever since I was a young child expressing great enthusiasm for church and school service events. As I grew older, I began volunteering for many other community events, such as serving over 200 hours at a local hospital, helping with free cancer screenings, and fitting children with free bike helmets. I even created my own donation drive for a local women’s and children’s shelter. I feel the best when I am striving to create positive changes in my community and for struggling, marginalized individuals. Social services have been a part of my life for a very long time, and I want it to continue to be on a professional level.
