Social Workers and Children
Social workers are professionals that can help people resolve difficult issues, and improve their well-being and their quality of life. These professionals typically work with individuals and groups of individuals that are experiencing crises in their lives.”( Start a Social Work Career) Social workers are dedicated to meeting the needs of their clients by interviewing them and laying out a detailed plan of goals for them to accomplish. They then help them attain these goals by using the available programs and services that a regular person would never have heard of or known they had access to. Society as a whole is profoundly influenced by the work that social workers do with individuals, groups, and communities. They are frequently only recognized or portrayed as the persons who sweep in and take children away from their parents. However, social workers work with people in situations like mental health, disabilities, substance abuse, hospice care, and child welfare.(Kirst-Ashman, 2013). Social workers have a variety of job opportunities and employment options and many people do not realize all he places social workers work at. A few places social workers can be employed at, are hospitals, schools, substance abuse facilities, and jails.

... middle of paper ... up. I also know me and my brother got lucky that our mother stepped up and was still able to care for us. She worked multiple jobs, maxed out credit cards, and went into severe debt to make sure we didn’t go without. When I was about fifteen, I realized that I wanted to help people specifically children who are need of assistance. When I was in high school I started volunteering at a food bank every Thursday and I joined a program called back pack for kids that made sure children had food to eat over the weekends. I believe that the social working field is the place where I can continue to do work to help those children who are less fortunate. Kids today need someone advocating for their rights and that is exactly what I want to do. It is of the highest importance to make sure children in the United States are properly cared for and educated, they are our future.
