I always wanted to be active in my community, I knew I wanted to change the injustice in the society but I never knew how? Complete absence of sound usually let people define who they are. Let silent take over them and won’t let them speak up to the truth of reality. Individuals in our society do not often recognize the sources of our belief system or the assumptions we are making. I tend to look at different views, standard and scope to help individuals see different disciplinary approaches to justice. People always tell me that being a social worker go hand to hand with advocating or being an advocate for individuals that are struggling. The main reason why I’m passionate about advocacy is because I hate the fact that my community or the people I love have to depend on someone or a system to help them succeed in life by having power over them. David Mechanic who wrote, “Sources of Power of Lower Participants in Complex Organizations” says that people with knowledge and has information that individuals need they use that power among us and we as citizens depend on it. “ To the extent that a person is dependent on another, he is potentially subject to the other person’s power… Within organizations one makes others dependent upon him by controlling access to information, persons…” (352). I don’t want anybody to feel that they need to depend on someone because they have the resources that someone does not have, and I believe it all start with having the voice and standing up to what’s right. Since I want to go into social work and do advocate for the unjust society we live in. I believe that being a good social worker does not have to do with the skills you have it’s about creating a society that is just, meaning everyone has an equal opportunity and pursue in what they believe in.
