Furthermore, once I understood that I have to start where the client is, to build focus on interaction and practice awareness of not imposing my own goals or values on clients, I feel more confident in my helping abilities.
My greatest strengths concentrate around inviting clients to tell their stories by asking specific but not threatening questions, ability to authentically engage with them, and establishing environment of support and acceptance. My learning goals and strategies are to keep growing as a person and professional social worker through expanding my knowledge and staying committed to culturally competent and ethical practice. My foundation and advanced internships have been invaluable experiences on my path to improvement and growth as culturally competent, culturally sensitive, and culturally responsive professional.
