A 16 year old decided she would send a nude photo to a guy who she was in a relationship with for two years. The guy who she assumed she was in a committed relationship with, decided he would betray her by sending her nude photo to everyone at their local high school. This situation, involving the use of social networking, was first overlooked by school officials, but quickly turned into something much larger. A parent took a look at her teenage son’s cell phone and discovered the provocative photo. As a result, the parent decided to contact local authorities. What first seemed to be a cruel joke, turned out to be a case of cyber bullying. On many social networking sites, people post information that is not appropriate for the online world. When one is sharing things online, there is always a possibility that it is being shared with people one may not know or trust. For instance, sharing personal information about one 's life, embarrassing photos, and things that could ruin one’s reputation should be kept private as they can all result in dire consequences. One should note that once something is posted, it can not be taken back. By managing information that is posted or keeping personal information private, one can greatly decrease the risks of any of the mentioned hidden dangers from happening.
