Pinterest is a website that allows a person to “pin” picture items online. Instead of emailing it to their selves, bookmarking, or printing the selected item they desire for their own personal ideas, the person could pin them on this website after creating an account where it can be easily saved and accessed. It allows people to pin such as recipes, pictures, crafts, home items or clothing that is much loved. It also allows a person to create their own ideas and pin them to their own pinterest board where friends or other people can view them and repin them to their own board for inspiration. Pinterest has become very popular for start up businesses to promote their ideas to create a bigger clientele nationwide. Also allow businesses to promote their items via facebook, twitter or any other social networking websites. Pinterest has become one of the fastest growing websites in just a short period of time with almost 2.3 billion viewers since 2012.

Kevin Rose took a risk early in his career, dropping out of his home-town University of Las Vegas to work full-time as a programmer. He was met with an opportunity to work on TechTV’s “The Screen Savers,” a show that focused on technology and computers. As a host, Rose gained notoriety in Silicon Valley and was able to meet many of “Silicon Valley’s biggest players” (“Robert”). One of those big players, Steve Wosniak, inspired Rose to set out to start his own innovative business. After an interview with the Apple co-founder, he became envious of thrill of entrepreneurship, especially in the tech industry. In 2004, Rose founded Digg, a social news website. Digg allows users to submit news ...
The co-founder, Mark Butler, owes a major note to the other original partner, who Mark bought out. He has a mortgage on his 12-year-old house and no other significant investments. Mark’s personal references indicate that he is hard-working and watches his business very closely.
The inherent weakness of Pinterest as a social network is that the popularity and continued growth of social networks is entirely cyclical. The story of MySpace has served as a cautionary tale to all social networks that the life growth-share matrix of social networks operates a lot more quickly than it did in the days of companies like Polaroid. Even as marketers gain traction with the content being posted on Pinterest, the platform itself needs to be versatile and translatable to other growing social networks as well. In the same way that companies like Facebook have acquired Instagram and Twitter have acquired Vine and Periscope, Pinterest is presented with a great opportunity to expand through similar acquisitions and mergers to further the mission and vision for Pinterest in the long term. In this way, they can diversify their revenue streams in the long term and remain relevant, even after the inevitable plateau of user growth. Finally, an inherent threat to Pinterest is the use of other social networks with access to a broader user demographic. Because Pinterest’s user demographic is so niche, it can serve as a limiter to company growth in the long term. When I look back to the few times I have used Pinterest, I felt as though it wasn’t exactly an
The development of social media becomes more frequent in various parts of the world. It makes the field of public relations experience changes both in the field of theory and practice. The changes are not directly caused by the presence of social media, but social media offers many opportunities for public relations practitioners to interact with the public through the adaptation of technology and integrate it into their daily activities (Curtis, 2010)
The carnival grotesque, with its freak shows and abnormal humans, was very popular and controversial back in the late 18th to early 19th century, by then it had matured into a distinct form of entertainment. In the 21st century, has the concept become dated? Has the freak show been revealed for the mistreatment and subjugation of many poor human beings? We live in times where many things that were once discriminated are now accepted and many kinds of people recognized as members of society and although there are instances that would challenge that notion, it is only a minority. This represents the progress mankind has made to understand one another. But has the idea of the freak show been abandoned with this new period? It is unfortunate to say that is not the case. In fact if anything it has only intensified with the advancement of society, particularly relating with technology and social networking. Social networking is the spectacle and barker in this relationship of the freak show to modern times. It is because of social networking, that we can see examples of the freak show displayed in our daily lives. I want to explore this further, explaining in greater detail how the freak show and the carnival grotesque have advanced with society as everything else and in fact plays on these advancements to contribute to the spectacle of the freak show and grotesque.
Facebook is rapidly attracting multitudes of visitors every month instigating a shift in communication. This change consequently presents that societies are choosing to become part of the popular Facebook culture for various reasons, such as its renowned opportunities for keeping in touch with current social circles, reunifying long lost family and friends and broadening prospects of finding new companions. Facebook removes some of the barriers that may limit our regularity of communication with people, upholding the geographic differences, social class, busy lifestyles and economic factors that may usually discourage us from regular contact. STARTUP.com is the story of two best friends since a very young age coming up with an idea of basically paying traffic tickets and registering vehicles online! Kaleil Isaza Tuzman, a savvy business man who left his job at Goldman Sachs felt this idea would be the one that would fulfill his need of money for the rest of his life, and decided to do whatever he could to try and make this idea into a realization. He would later become in charge of all business aspects of the company and C.E.O. Tom Herman, the other half of this project was just in need of money and fast, for he had a daughter that he was unable to take care of. Tom would later become in charge of the technical aspect of the company and C.E.O. This product idea would soon attract a couple of other people to the point where they would even invest their own money just to see this happen. The product would later be named Govworks.com. ...
The challenges that Pinterest will face is will they be able to innovate as the market changes. To gain permanent relevance they need to keep their core group of consumers (women) satisfied. As well as to expand to market towards more men and other age groups. A big reason why Myspace lost its popularity is because it only catered to a specific age group at the time and failed to innovate. Personally I have been on Pinterest one time, and have not visited it since. From what I remember almost none of my interests matched the pictures or pins that I observed. I do remember going onto a shoe website from Pinterest that sold cheap name brand shoes. I soon found out it was a Chinese site that was selling fake products. From that point I think that where I made up my mind I would never need Pinterest. I feel that Pinterest will be able to gain permanent relevance because they have such a cult following with women. Almost similar to the amount of middle aged women fans that Oprah Winfrey’s talk show had, she knew who her market niche was and tailored her business to her niche, like what Pinterest is doing
Social Media is an amazing tool. Humans use Social Media to share their thoughts, photos, and interact with other people. To continue, a favorite form of social media is Pinterest. Pinterest is an online interface where users create and save hyperlinked images known as pins. Sectors called boards store these pins. Another great aspect of Pinterest is that it can be accessed from any internet based device like laptops and cell phones. Pinterest is wonderful because it is easy to find pins on multiple subject areas; however, it is not the most optimum method to meet other people.

In today's society, everyone has some way to connect online, but is this slowly starting to take over our life? With the ability to connect online like never before, it has become easier to occupy our minds without the use of everyday things like board games and face to face conversation. With today's generations, people have become to dependent on gathing their news from social media, talking to friends and loved ones with message apps or through texting, and to occupy their minds with online and offline gaming.
