Social media has been the window to media and knowledge is constantly being spread. Social media can be considered the media in entirety because that is where all of the media lies. Consumerism is surrounded by sexualizing products, a lot of the time having to do with food. Chocolate particularly is associated with having sexual connotations. For some reason chocolate and objectifying women go hand-and-hand. Women are also still seen in commercials with household products or cosmetics. Or shown in the house with the children and never at the workplace. Whereas men are seen with cars or business products and being outside, and making real strides in society. These commercials are reinforcing stereotypes which hinders progression.
