Social Media Social media has grown to the point where it feels as though everyone is connected and pursuing online interactions, either being Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, etc. Social media has allowed people to always stay in touch allowing relationships to always be a click away. Oxford Dictionary has defined social media as, “Websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking.” The problem that begins to get created through social media is that people have started to lose physical communications with one another. Almost every youth to college student has a “smart phone” and with this they probably have if not multiple social media applications that can be accessed at any time. The danger that lurks with an addiction to social media can be seen almost anywhere. If you sit on a park bench, walk the city, or even sit down in the mall you can see a plethora of distracted people who are always looking down. The constant yearning for a text has been the norm nowadays and this can be fatal if used while doing certain tasks. Texting and driving has been the constant battle amongst young drivers because this generation grew up on these devices. Snapchatting also has lead to people getting seriously hurt either that being a result to a goofy photo gone wrong or behind the wheel of a car. Social media has rewired many individuals to the point it 's like a drug addiction. Social media in the beginning, may not have been as bad as it is today. Though this median in which we use everyday is not healthy and has a damper on our daily lives. Oral communications will suffer due the inability to sit face to face as well as lacking the life experiences that go along with communications.
