Unless you have been hiding under a rock for the last several years. Social media is a term everyone is very familiar with, social networking sites or SNS range from Twitter to Pinterest, Snapchat to Instagram, Facebook to Google +, it seems as if a new one is developed every day. The list is endless, if you are not a member of one you are a member of another, quite possibly multiple social media sites at once. It can be very easy to be fully consumed by the multiple positive opportunities these sites provide for us all, like Facebook. From easily being able to connect with family around the world to being able to connect with prospective clients half a world away, Facebook makes it easier to connect to endless possibilities. It is hard to imagine our lives without the many technological advancements we indulge ourselves with in today’s world. Not long ago we did not have the internet or cell phones or even the computers we now have, with all of the wireless capabilities that are at our disposal. Now we are spoiled and have almost everything readily available. We can access an endless amount of information at a moment’s notice; we have the power to access just about anything we want or need at the click of a mouse, or of you have a smart phone at the touch of the screen. However, if we are not careful we can go from using the resources adequately and rationally to going to the extreme. Going to the extreme means letting Facebook overtake your life, letting Facebook control your every movement, having no control over how time one spends on the social networking site, or app if using a mobile device. Most people will say that they have full control of themselves and can limit themselves to only a few hours a day on Facebook.
