Social Media and its Effects The Internet has entered everyone 's daily life, yet all of us has entered the Internet at the same time. Netizens, whether they choose to login on Facebook, Instagram or other kinds of social medias, are all building their own online avatars for commenting and interacting with others. The ideas and opinions that echo in cyberspace resonate with netizens, making them collaborate across the online world and feel increasing participations. Subsequently such demand leads to the positive part of social media——a trend of self-promotion. Shifting the avatar to an ideal image can achieve a self-fulfilling prophecy, as Manago explained it as a psychological phenomenon: "People put up something they like to become...and the more it gets reflected off of others, the more it may be integrated into their sense of self."(Wolpert, 279).
