The article states, “…your evaluation will be based partly on how well your students perform on these tests,” and, “A positive outcome is improved student learning.” I strongly disagree with both of these absurd statements. Students’ test scores should never evaluate a teachers’ ability. This idea of teachers being evaluated by test scores is rooted by the idea that if students make a certain score on the test then they must understand it. However, as a student for almost 13 years, I know that a high grade does not mean I learned anything. Instead, it leads to the exact opposite. Due to all this, I will have to focus on this aspect; therefore, I will instruct my student with the necessary information they need, as well as try to teach a more real understanding of the concepts. Secondly, after learning what social context is and the role it plays on students, I will strive to provide all of my students—poor or wealthy—with the best education. Additionally, I will not leave students who are struggling to fall behind because of their lack of education. Walking in to my classroom, students may already be facing stereotypes, abuse, etc. and once they are in my classroom, it is my ultimate mission to teach them and to shower them with love. Overall, this article helped shed light on the nonacademic issues that students face, and provide me with the tips to provide the best education.
