Social Class Discrimination
Social class discrimination is a negative attitude towards people based on their social or economic class. It is both discriminatory and unfair to people from particular classes and beneficial to the upper class. Social class discrimination has tremendous negative effects on the discriminated classes. Therefore, it is the responsibility of every individual to take some actions to fix this problem.
The first step to bringing social class discrimination to a standstill is by first ensuring one’s beliefs do not label or rub others the wrong way. Therefore, a person should toil to be considerate of others by treating them with respect. Declining to share discriminatory comments masqueraded as humor promotes diversity and fairness. It is exceedingly essential to be vigilant not to upset people from other cltures. Different people interpret words and actions differently. Again, it is vital to tolerate others’ lifestyles. In conclusion, when accused of discrimination, it is important to listen closely and apologize sincerely. People from different backgrounds might understanding as insulting what you intended to be harmless. In Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting by in America, the author, Barbara Ehrenreich, takes on an experiment where she leaves her job as a highly acclaimed writer and decides to become part of the working class in order to better understand them and their continuous strains and worries. Barbara Ehrenreich's, "Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America", is a book that strives to change the way America perceives its working poor. Incorporated is a journal of the time spent by the author, with her identity and Ph.D concealed, working in order to discover whether she could support a basic life style from earning minimum wage. This book brings to light general problems such as stress in the work place, lack of proper benefits, and how what was merely an experiment for Ehrenreich, is a real detriment for many others. Documented from 1998-2000, Ehrenreich finds cheap residencies and works various employment positions paying between $6-$7 an hour all while assessing her findings. In working as a waitress in Florida, a maid in Maine, and a sales clerk in Minnesota, Ehrenreich soon discovers that even the "lowliest" of occupations require exhausting and strenuous efforts rewarded by a wage that barely covers living expenses and everyday expenditures.

Discrimination is known to exist in all workplaces, sometimes it is too subtle to notice, and other times it is exceedingly obvious. It is known that everyone subconsciously discriminates, dependant on their own beliefs and environments that surround them. However, discrimination can be either positive or negative in their results, and sometimes discrimination is a necessary part of life.
Introduction- Discrimination affects people all over the world. People of all ethnicities and from all different walks of life are influenced in some way by workplace discrimination. "Discrimination" means unequal treatment. One of the most common elements discriminated against is a persons ethnicity, or their race. This is called Racial Discrimination. While there are many federal laws concerning discrimination, most states have enacted laws that prohibit it. These laws may have different remedies than the federal laws and may, in certain circumstances be more favorable than the federal laws.
In today’s society people are viewed as being in different classes depending on how much money they bring in. The categorization of people is known as classism. Classism is simply the prejudice or in favor of people belonging to a particular social class. Classism is known as one of the largest social problems plaguing the world today. Classes are formed according to how the rules of the following institutions; government regulations and economic status. It is held in place by a system of beliefs and cultural attitudes that ranks people according to their; economic status, family lineage, job status, and level of education. There are three major classifications to which people are titled. They include upper or high class which includes the people with the most money. The middle class who includes the people that brings home the average income. Finally, the class titled the lower class that includes the people who have only one income coming in or none at all (“What Is Classism.”). In the classrooms these classes still remain and the students within each class have different ways in which they learn, and view schooling. We as educators have to look passed their ways and address each class the same.
Over all discrimination is not just what you may think it is. It is not just saying or jugging someone due to the race. However, it is how their culture believes discrimination is. Being social different is one major thing that I did not even full understood until I read this article. Now being around different race should not be like you are walking on glass, however you may want to understand one way of belief before you start judging their way of
