As soon as someone lights a cigarette and puts it up to their mouth they are just asking for health problems to occur. Smoking cigarettes can cause many problems that affect not only the smoker, but anyone else that is around the smoker. Nonsmokers chose to not smoke because they do not like the health risks or negative effects caused by cigarettes. People that chose to turn cigarettes down should not have to still interfere with the negative effects of tobacco because smokers are too rude to just save the smoking until they are in their own home. People should be able to walk into any public place and not have to breathe in this toxic. According to the Surfrider Foundation, “Cigarette butts are the most frequent item collected during the group 's beach cleanups.” When these cigarette butts are left near the ocean floor seagulls, fish, or any other animal that lives in the sea now has a chance of ingesting them and it could injure the animals or even worse, kill them. Throwing these butts on the ground causes to many problems and the amount of money it takes to clean up all the litter is expensive. A study published in the April 2011 issue of Tobacco Control, “Estimated removal costs range from $3 million to $16 million for major cities and municipalities.” That is way too much money being wasted, smokers just need to learn how to dispose of their waste, so we can keep America’s land …show more content…

“Americans spend $80 billion on cigarettes per year.”, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. If we were to ban smoking in public, then people would not have as much time to smoke because most people’s daily live is too busy. This would reduce how many cigarettes they smoke each day, which will then lower the cost smokers spend each year on cigarettes. If people would stop spending money on cigarettes, then they could save that money and put it towards something positive, like a vacation, paying off a debt, or just treating yourself to a nice dinner once a week. Cigarettes do nothing but harm people and do not deserve Americans money that they worked hard
