The introduction of smart phones in our lives is perhaps one of the greatest things that ever happened to mankind since creation. Smart phones have instantly changed communities around the world in many ways, many of us remember not too long ago the traditional way of communicating was by mail. Smartphones are quickly becoming an intrinsic part of health care in America not only for the ease of communication and increase in efficiency that they facilitate, but also for the countless application that are available for use on a smartphone. Though there are advantages and disadvantages to the use of cellphones in medical care, more and more the argument seems to have shifted from “is cellphone technology good for healthcare” to “what technology is best for healthcare.” According to a study by Putzer and Park, “in 2010, 50 percent of physicians were using smartphones on a regular basis in clinical decision making.” As more advanced applications and devices are introduced, clinical providers identify the pros and cons of said advancements. I know for certain that after seeing my friends during the day that when I get home I can immediately text them or snap chatting or any of the ways we communicate. I can’t imagine living in a world without being able to communicate with my friends across the room or across the globe at the click of a button. Sitting in my room I can check the news, play a game and talk to my friend in America all at the same time. The technology has advanced so much since the first iPhone. Along with other smart phones they have changed the way we communicate because we can just pick up the phone and talk to someone and you can text a question or facetime them. Smart phones have changed the world because at the tips of your fingers anywhere you can check the weather, watch a video, listen to music, take a picture, get directions, check the time, get information from the internet and watch your favorite TV show.

Telemedicine is used in a variety of health care services like primary care, patients monitoring, health information sharing, health education (America Telemedicine Association, 2013). Communicating with technology has changed in many different ways. We usually “get in touch” with people through technology rather than speaking with them face to face. Phones have been around way before I was born in 1996, but throughout the years, they have developed a phone called a “smart phone”. The smart phone has all kinds of new things that we can use to socialize with our peers. On these new phones, we can connect with our friends or family on social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Technology has also developed Skype, a place you can talk with people on the computer with instant voice and video for hours.
