Smart phones in business are an essential technology because it can spare the use of laptop. The technology provides useful options for everyone, such as reading, forwarding and replying to emails quickly, without having to wait until getting to computer or laptop. However, the uncontrolled use of smart phones in workplace could easily distract employees and eat away their time and, thus, affect the work. The other downside of using smart phones includes security and privacy issues, as cyber attackers are most likely to steal information through third-party applications. In contrary, the design department may use SMS to advertise for the products in an attempt to encourage customers to use the company’s services. The accounting department may be less interested in using SMS, yet it could be used for sending out financial notifications as short messages. Among many benefits, the human resources department can use SMS in order to send thank you and/or congratulations messages to employees. Similarly, SMS is a very useful technology for administration department because it enables the department to stay in constant touch with employees during and after work hours. Finally, executive management is especially in need for SMS because managers need to get updated even when they are away from internet access.
