Sleep helps your body work to support healthy brain function and maintain your physical health. Sleep also helps support children and teens with growth and development. It can affect how well you think, react, work, learn, and get along with others.
A good night’s sleep helps me feel great when I awake and helps me be alert and pay attention throughout the day. If I lack sleep, I have trouble making decisions, solving problems, controlling my emotions and behavior, and coping with change. Lack of sleep also has been linked to depression, suicide, and risk-taking behavior.
Naps are also important and effective. Naps restore alertness, heighten sensory perception, reduce the risk of heart disease, and make you more productive. If I manage my energy, I become more productive. Naps that last simply twenty to thirty minutes can make a huge difference just as if I were to nap for ninety minutes. Naps can also improve creativity by relaxing the mind and can restore the sensitivity of sight, hearing, and taste.
For this term paper, I chose to change my sleeping behavior and try to get more sleep by sleeping earlier from September to December. I chose this goal because I always sleep late and wake up early. Even during the weekends, my body has become used to waking up early so I wake up naturally around the same time and it is hard to fall back asleep or even fall asleep to begin with. It is a bad habit and routine.

...her would always tell me to go to sleep early prior to this assignment but I did not always listen, especially if I was in the middle of doing an assignment or studying. I would still do what I believed help me, which is taking naps and drinking coffee. My mother likes the coffee I buy so she does not complain there, but she does complain when I take naps.
Overall, I did not achieve the goal of specifically sleeping earlier, but I found another way of getting more sleep rather than sleeping earlier by taking naps. I think if I really want to sleep early every night, it would take much more time than two or three months of consistently sleeping earlier for my body to become accustomed to this change because I have been sleeping late for years. I do not think I will ever be a morning person.
