Sick days are commonly given to employees. Employees normally get a certain amount per year; some are paid and some are not. There are sometimes rules to using them: needing a doctor’s note upon returning to work or having a fever. People typically can not use these days for mental health, though. To more adequately deal with the topic of the nation’s health, society must be clear on the definition of sick days. A sick day is for a person suffering from a physical or mental illness. An individual who is physically sick and unable to go to work or school, is not expected to go because it will negatively impact their work, their health, and others’ health around them. She has a bipolar disorder and had bulimia nervosa and anorexia nervosa. She claims that physical and mental health should be cared for with the same amount of seriousness. With Lovato already suggesting that mental health be given as much importance as physical health, she would definitely advocate for mental health days to be included in employee sick days. As a survivor of three mental illnesses, she makes her case even stronger because she understands the pain and severity that psychological problems can cause. If she was ever struggling emotionally, I am sure she felt obligated to go record her new song or perform, but doing this did not help her condition. During a time she was having conflicts like the ones above, she should have taken a break from her career to care for herself. They act crazily different from how they normally would. For example, they may talk to themselves, have delusions, or isolate themselves socially. Someone coming into work this way would not be appropriately prepared for a usual day at work. If the employee had a crucial meeting that could really affect the company he or she is working for, the person may completely mess up, resulting in a negative outcome. With this being true, there should be sick days available for people having an emotionally challenging day because not only would an unstable employee be working, but the employee will not be able to heal
