When will Women be equal as men? Women have come a long way in what we can do here in the United States. Although this is not the case worldwide . Many times we work alongside males and sometimes doing we at the end of the week only receive much less of a percentage that is paid to males to do same jobs. As a people, we have different cultures and beliefs many of these have a placement or set of rules . According to Dictionary.com, a patriarchy is "a social system in which power is held by men, through cultural norms and customs that favor men and withhold opportunity from women". It would be great if they were removed by social change but many may never due to deep roots into ancient customs and religions. Women of today have the ability to do many things but are not given the recognition for their fruits. It uses to be women were only allowed to hold certain jobs. These jobs were usually in the home or doing domesticated work. These jobs were not always easy as they seem to be. Today women can do anything from a doctor or be a scientist. Also, we are still breaking into new areas such as being able to go into combat on the "line" or at least very close to it. Also very soon a woman will be The president of the United States. Hopefully when that happens or before we will also start receiving the same pay and benefits for doing the same job. Although we like to comfort ourselves with the idea that we have gotten our rightfully earned rights, we had not been given bathroom breaks until 1998. Furthermore, employees are still afraid to have a voice in the workforce. Employers establish rules that let laborers know that they are inferior.

We’d all like to believe that we are equals within our society, but democracy doesn’t necessarily ensure equality. We all must work for a living, and the constitution would have you believe that racial minorities and women would have equal opportunities and equal wages as white men. But this is not the case. Since the nineteen hundredths women in America have been fighting for equality within the workplace. Popular belief would make you believe that today woman are equal to men in every aspect in the workplace. Although, this concept should be true in a lot of the cases it is not. This began back in World War II, when the National Labor Board urged equalize the salary rates for women with the same rates that males were getting of the same professions. Of course humans will always search for different solutions to create fairness, but factors such as human greed, ignorance of mass populations, and even biological aspects stagnates the process of equality.
