Euthanasia is derived from a Greek word Euthanotos, which literally means good death. It refers to a practice of intentional ending of a life to relieve the pain and suffering of a person. Voluntary Euthanasia is often the most focused topic for pro-Euthanasia arguers, so I’m going to focus a little more on that. For Euthanasia or assisted suicide to occur, there must be an intention to kill. Support for euthanasia is motivated by compassion, but it is clear that any conceivable good that could come from legalising euthanasia would be far outweighed by its harmful consequences. Those who promote euthanasia or called mercy killing will be biding their time, waiting for the “right” time to bring the issue to the front of people’s minds. The present law does not distinguish between Euthanasia and other forms of murder. The key consideration of Euthanasia is the intention to cause death. Euthanasia is murder. Consent or motive even of compassion, does not change the reality of killing a human being and it should be permanently banned from the Malaysia. Therefore, I totally agreed that voluntary euthanasia should not be legalized or implemented due to some particular reasonable reasons.
Firstly, voluntary euthanasia gives a majority power to medical profession especially doctors. In this situation, it will create a dangerous imbalance in the doctor and patient relationship where the doctor now has the ability to end the life of a patient. If the doctor does not recognize the fear of the patient as well as the patient’s anxiety and depression that underlie the patient’s request for death, the patient may become trapped by their request and die in a state of unrecognized terror. For people with a greater share of suffering and a closer death, we need to provide a support system. Legalizing Euthanasia is like saying-‘We understand why you would want to die. Now you legally can.’ No one decides the worth of anyone’s life and no one can. I firmly believe that euthanasia should not be implemented or legalized. Some believe that euthanasia should be implemented and legalized but you must consider that the knowledge, culture and belief s can be transferred from years to centuries. A doctor kills a patient because they were paid off to do so. This may strike up some complications, right? If euthanasia were legal, maybe it would just be overlooked. Someone who is murdered could get no justice if law protects the murderer. To prove that a doctor wasn’t supposed to give their dying patient a lethal dose of medicine may be hard. Voluntary-Active euthanasia has many fundamental conflicts which make it problematic. For Voluntary-Active euthanasia to take place, an individual must show an interest in ending their own life. One must consider the mental state of a person with a life-threatening disease or severe trauma and the pain involved. Are they disregarding the possibility of recovery in an attempt to relieve their pain? With the sudden onset of disease or severe injury, many people lose hope and gain a sense of defeat. It could be this sense of hopelessness that drives some to the conclusion of Voluntary-Active euthanasia. Sometimes the guilt of burdening family and friends with the task of financing the individual's healthcare and prolonging their worry will influence such decisions when that is simply not the case. Doctors prefer to never have to euthanize a patient. It is a contradiction of everything they have been taught for a doctor to euthanize someone, because a doctor’s job is to do everything in their power to keep the patient alive, not assist them in suicide. The majority of doctors who specialize in palliative care, a field focused on quality of life for patients with severe and terminal illnesses, think legalizing assisted suicide is very unnecessary. Euthanasia is defined as “The painless killing of a patient suffering from an incurable and painful disease or in an irreversible coma.” Euthanasia has been practiced in a plethora or countries from today’s time, dating back to Ancient Geek and Roman civilization. During that period it was used to assist one another die, which was approved in their society and not seen as problematic. Today, the practice of euthanasia causes a tremendous quarrel. Euthanasia should be looked at with an open-mind and understanding. Therefore, this is a situation where it’s up to the patient if they want to put themselves through euthanasia and no one else’s, it should be strictly between the patients (or spouse if needed) and their physician.

A lot of people have different experiences, different lives and points of view.
