Alternative energies are the future of power. They will be the power that will sustain human life until the end. This is why the United States government should invests more towards the research and use of alternative energies. Alternative energies are any energy that will replace fossil fuels. Some common alternative energies are solar, wind, hydroelectric, geothermal, hydrogen, and biofuels. The U.S. should use those alternative energies over fossil fuels, Petroleum (oil), coal, and natural gas. We currently have ways to store and use these types of energies but the ways we have are not the most effective. That is why the U.S. should fund the research of better ways to harvest and use these alternative energies.
All the alternative energies proposed before are renewable. They will last as long, or even longer than, the human race. Fossil fuels on the other hand won't. The U.S. has a renewable energy resource base. It is practically untapped. If the U.S. put more funding into filling up that base they would save money in the long run. Why would they spend the money obtain and transporting fossil fuels when they could produce safe, simple, and renewable energy? It is obvious that the U.S. should be spending more money towards the use of alternative energies.
All the pollution currently be released into the atmosphere could be prevented by switching to the alternative energies listed above. This has been looked at by experts and they believe it has the capability to be reached by 2040 if the U.S. government and the people of the U.S. switch to the alternative energies listed above. All of the alternative energies listed above do not produce any CO2 that damage the atmosphere. Another worry is that the CO...

... turbines, solar panels, dams, etc. There is a reserve of land for the U.S. government to place renewable energy machines so this is not a problem. The U.S. could stop worrying that a country might shut off trade of petroleum, oil, and not worry about energy again. There are to many benefits to not switch to the alternative fuels listed above.
It is clear this cannot happen immediately, it will take some time, but it needs to start happening now. If the U.S. begins researching ways to better these alternative energies, it could solve multiple problems. We wouldn't have to worry about fossil fuels running out, fossil fuels damaging our delicate ecosystem or even harming us, and maybe even the economy falling in a long time. The benefits are clear and the arguments have been broken. The U.S. should put more funding into the research and use of alternative energies.
America is threatened by the destruction of their own environment. United States is known for their innovation towards alternative energy like solar power, wind power and nuclear power. However , these alternative energies are not completely beneficial towards the United States.
...m fossil fuels, there remains alternative resources that can easily be taken advantage of. So why isn’t the United States taking this deeply into consideration and improving this dilemma? The energy crisis of the 1970’s continues on into the present as Americans search for new ways to fuel the consumption. This remains unresolved.
The reliance on other countries for fossil fuels that produce energy have put the United States of America at risk of being pulled into unstable regions around the world jeopardizing international relationships and putting its own citizens in harm’s way. America needs to balance both the pursuit of alternative energy solutions and reduce energy usage. Our military runs on fossil fuels produced by other nations who do not have similar interests or values as the United States, ultimately adding unwanted risk that becomes difficult to manage. There are advantages to alternative energy solutions that could allow for America to become an independent energy nation that would eliminate the need to support and stabilize various regions around the world. The U.S. Military needs to reduce its overall energy usage by taking advantage of breakthrough technologies that could be integrated onto current systems.
Thirty-seven percent of the energy used in the United States comes from oil. Natural gas comes in at second, contributes twenty five percent of the energy. Coal gives us twenty one percent of our energy while the other seventeen percent comes from other energy sources. Those other resources include nuclear, wind, and mostly solar. Besides the environmental harm that some people think fracking has, it has the potential to produce more natural gas and oil. It also is a non-renewable resource and will take a very long time for it to come back because of the earth’s natural creation. Solar and wind power are renewable, but do not produce enough energy to run our country. All of the solar panels and wind mills we have on the earth right now could ...
Semantically fossil fuels are a renewable source of energy, however given that it takes millions of years for the organic materials to be broken down and converted, it is wholly unrealistic to consider them as renewable. As the demand for fossil fuels increases and source diminish faster than they are replentished, the United States must work towards a renewable energy independent state using truly renable sources, both technically and in practice. With changes in the home, as consumers in buying goods and with alternative fuel sources backed by public trust and governmental involvement, the United States could drastically lessen its dependence on fossil fuels, foreign and domestic.
Nonrenewable resources are resources that take millions of years to replenish. In 2006, BP, the British Petroleum Company, released research indicating that there are only around 1,200 billion barrels of oil left in all of the world’s reserves (Issitt & Warhol). That means there are approximately 368 years until all of the world’s fossil fuels are used up entirely. Therefore reductions and changes need to be made; alternative energy can substitute and take place of the nonrenewable fuels. All alternative energies are renewable resources; there will always be sun, wind, water, and geothermal heat. These resources restore themselves and will never run out as opposed to fossil fuels; there won’t be any concerns about scarcity or frantic searching among energy corporations if they start investing in building alternative energy companies
Every day the world we live in dies a little more. By this I mean the physical world is gradually being damaged by the way we treat it. We need to start looking at the kind of environment we are creating and decide if it is a place that we want our children and the future generations to have to suffer though. If your answer to the previous scenario is no then you should really consider what we can do to make the future a better place. One of the best ways that I can think of is by focusing on the advancements of green energy resources. By doing this we will not only reduce pollution produced by burring fossil fuels but mainly we will be able to reduce the amount of pollution produced from the gathering of them though means like fracking.
Renewable energy should replace fossil fuels because they are cleaner. Fossil fuels are well known to poison the Earth. They may seem like a solution to our energy needs but they are doing more harm than good. Even though they are so toxic to the Earth we still have a while until we can completely switch to clean energy. “The U.S. cannot afford to invest and lock itself into many more decades of reliance on the dirty and unstainable sources of energy of the past” (Yang n.p.). Renewable energy such as solar, wind and hydro power do not give off pollution like fossil fuels do. If we were to switch to renewable energy we would eventually stop global warming and live healthier lives. “Clean-tech is a fast growing global industry that holds the potential to fix our current climate and other environmental challenges”(Yang n.p.). Unfortunately the renewable energy technology is not as affordable as fossil fuel technology, which is one of the reasons why we are using fossil fuels. According to author Jeffery Ball:
The United States has so many resources such as solar, wind, hydro, and natural gas that we need more research on. The government has tried and weighed in on the energy crisis in the world but it may be too late to become the world leader of new energy. The United States has failed to conduct vigorous research and development in the removal of fossil fuels and has tried to figure out a more efficient way of using the fuels already in use. This can cause of alarm in the upcoming decades with cars and planes using up petroleum faster than previously thought.
With every passing day our planet is slowly becoming contaminated by the fuels we use and the green house gases they emit. This damage can never be reversed and will continue to harm our planet; however there are many systems of alternative energy that could be implemented in order to reduce this damage. This is why I believe that our government should endorse alternative energy and set regulations in order to promote the use of alternative energy.
Non renewable energy, such as fossil fuel, is used all over the world. Big part of the population assumes that fossil fuel is a reliable source of energy, easy to obtain, and is relatively cheap. On the other hand, fossil fuel is a non renewable energy, which means that we can use it only once. Also, this burning fossils are not good for the environment and are the main reason of the global warming. In this era a lot of new technologies have been invented. Although not every created invention has been for good, renewable sources such as, solar, wind, and human power are a good alternative of energy. Despite some people thinking that solar energy isn’t helpful and it’s only a bad investment; solar energy is the best way to reduce the greenhouse gases and decelerate the global warming, also, is a good investment and it will help you save money in a short term, and unlike the burning fossil fuel, is not harmful for human’s health.
In addition to the fact that solar, wind, and hydro power are local resources, they are also emission free resources. Emissions and pollution are a key concern with traditional power sources. The coal-fired plants that dominate U.S. energy production also produce more emissions than any other energy source. “Em...
...outcompete fossil fuels, but by using different forms of alternative energy fossil fuels use could be reduced drastically. Now is the time for a conversion from fossil fuels to alternative energy.
Using fossil fuels such as coal and oil is inefficient, dangerous, and otherwise a process that is known to eventually fail as a long lasting energy source. Yet, there is hope for the future of energy, this new hope has many shapes and forms, but requires a chance to be fully implemented in our everyday life. Such energy sources like solar energy, wind energy, geothermal energy, and hydro power are the key to our future. These energy sources are proven to be long lasting, safe, more reliable, and the next innovation. In short, all Americans should switch to renewable energy, resulting in a safer and more efficient world.
The world that we live into today affords us the expectation that the flip a switch will turn the lights on. As populations increase and developing nations undergo dramatic economic growth, this energy demand will only continue to grow. The International Energy Agency (IEA) believes that “the world’s energy needs could be 50% higher in 2030 than they are today” (ElBaradei). Given this projected growth, it is necessary for world leaders must take action to secure the energy supply. Meaning that world leaders need to start seriously considering an alternative to non-renewable energy sources. “In 2012, the United States generated about 4,054 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity. About 68% of the electricity generated was from fossil fuel (coal, natural gas, and petroleum), with 37% attributed from coal” (U.S. Energy Information Administration). The fossil fuels that are used to supply over half of our country’s energy are in finite supply and are increasing in price to astronomical heights.
