Should the driving age be raised to 18?

I am sure that we all know that having a driver license is a big compromise to drive safe. Then why make the roads more hazardous by raising the driving age to 18? If the driving age is raised there will be more drunk drivers, unemployed New Zealanders and Kiwi’s that don’t have an interest in getting their license anymore. Is this what New Zealand wants?

You’ve just drunk the most beautiful Hot Chocolate and now you have to brush your teeth, the two things are fine alone but when put together cause a total disaster. This is how I feel about raising the driving age. A real concern of raising the driving age to 18 to me is it coincides to a legal persons access to alcohol. The New Zealand Herald quoted “Police figures released to the Herald show a dramatic drop in the number of under-17s caught drink-driving, from 630 in 2007 to 305 last year.” If the driving age were to be raised to 18, young people would have to face these two challenges learning to drive and access to alcohol all at the same time.
