A number of researchers have suggested over years that teenage brains are not yet fully developed. At the National Institute of Mental Health researchers have studied the human brain ever since the stage of birth all the way to adulthood, to prove that the brain is not complete. When it comes to this topic, Americans assume that if a teenage commits a crime than they should not be held accountable because of their age. Yet they must consider that teens are capable of understanding the situation they are in, how they are looked upon as young adults,, and how they should learn from their mistakes.
Over the years more and more teens are being tried as adults for crimes they commit. Are the punishments really necessary or is it going to the extreme? It is said that the girls lured Neese to the woods where both of them stabbed Skylar Neese to death. The girls had kept the crime a secret from the investigators for months until one finally cracked telling them where they could find Neese’s body. This horrible crime is definitely not fair for the victim and for her family. These girls had planned this crime therefore they received the sentence they deserved. Teenagers like Eddy and Shoaf know exactly what is right and what is wrong. If they are capable of thinking through and actually committing a crime, then they should be able to face the consequences of their actions. Consequently, they should be able to punished for their unlawful actions. No matter what age they are they should be tried as adult. Where they thinking of the damage they were to cause, I doubt they were. It is immoral to do such a thing to a person who had something waiting for them in the future. They are young adults, it is not like when these individuals turn 18, they are going to automatically know what is wrong from right. Juveniles are able to make strong comprehending decisions starting from a young age. All things considered, there should be no special treatment for young adults who commit crimes.
