You might be surprised to learn that there are over 1.2 million students that drop out high school in the United States. Some kids, after high school, don’t even know how to survive the “Real World” as some adults call it. Nowadays, public school districts tend to hire people in their early 20’s to be high school teachers. Also, school begins at 9am or 9:15 and even some begin at 7:15. Not to mention, there is the overload of homework. Last but not least, tests are the hardest thing high schoolers have to deal with. Honestly, are tests and quizzes necessary for students to take in order to move to the next grade? Some of the reasons high school students drop out are teacher inexperience, early starts, the amount of homework, and the test taking. To begin with, some public school districts hire people that have just graduated with their teaching certification as high school teachers. I think that public school districts should take a different look at what goes on in high schools as well as taking high school students in to consideration. They should start by picking teachers with a lot more experience and that are well grounded to be teachers. Also, starting school at a later time honestly getting up super early and leaving school super late can take a toll on students. Teachers should also cut back on the amount of homework or give students a week in order to turn the assignments in. As well as tests, should honestly be taken out of the learning curriculum all together and just focus on the grades the students make. If they can make these changes the dropout rate will go down and you will have more students graduating and having a more successful outlook on
