Schools can give responsibility to students but never without a cost. Students should have to chance to prove their worth to schools and show how responsible they can be as adults. When students go to college classes as high schoolers they sometimes tend to have more free time during those times. If a child has enough responsibility to take those classes they should have enough to leave school and be trusted to come back to school after their free time is over. Although leaving school early is not something that is smiled upon it should be because some students are ahead and can work their schedule to allow extra time because of hard work in early years. Having freedom of your morning and ability to sleep in when you have no classes should be a freedom that is permitted for students. Most students can have study halls or free periods in the first or last period of the days and still can 't do anything with them. Getting an unexcused absence for not needing to be in school for a class because of weather or no classes is just a dumb system. A common argument against this position is that the school board wants students to go to school for the amount of hours that is necessary. It may be true that leavening the school puts lots of responsibility to the student to not get in trouble or to not be late to future classes, except there should still be a chance for the student to prove themselves to the schools. Admittedly, until there is a written version of such consequences and procedures in the handbooks of school the fault for accidents could possible be held accountable to the schools and legal procedures could be done against them. While it is true that leaving school early isn 't something that is shown or told throughout your time in highschool it does not necessarily follow that it can not be done later in your highschool career with correct reasons and precautions from the school systems. Getting freedom from the schools is an important thing for those students that prove they have the responsibly and mindset to not mess up outside. Education is a huge topic of controversy, society is always trying to reform what we know as education today. Right now, the first 12 years of education are entirely free for students directly, but in the end are paid for by the taxpayers of the town. The question is, why should only grades k-12 be free why not a college education too? On the other hand, there are some exceptions to free schooling at the k-12 levels. The most prominent being, Private schooling, most towns in the United States have at least one if not many private schools. Why Schools Should Continue Starting at Eight Despite popular opinion, to be beneficial, schools should continue on their current schedules, and not start later. Starting schools later can have a variety of positive and negative consequences on students. Schools currently are at a time that gives students enough lesson time to learn subjects, but still have time to relax and take part in other activities after school. Many families depend on the time school starts to have easy transportation to school and work. Studies have suggested that the average adolescent brain doesn’t even start to fully function until around 9:30 am. The education system has been changing in recent years and the same problems that existed continue to get worse as years pass. Problems that were seen as minor at first have now grown. How to change the public higher education system has been a major topic of discussion but there has still been no major action taken. We struggle to figure out how much funding is needed for higher education and where it should come from. Our people continue to suffer from an underfunded high cost system. The wealthy minority of people continue to be the only ones accounted for and it is time to change this. We need to adapt to the changes and the costs that continue to rise. High school, along with college are two major stepping stones in a person’s life. Many individuals are able to make the transitions from high school to college pretty easily, while there are others that find the transition into college to be somewhat challenging and hard to adjust to. When I made the jump from high school to college, I found that there are vast differences between the two, and both had very diverse environments. I found the key differences concerning high school and college to be the level of academic responsibilities, time management and scheduling, as well as the methods learning to be the main differences.
Something that is similar to high school in college is homework. In college, we are given homework every day, but we are given have two days to work on the homework that we have. The homework can be extensive but it is most of the work that we do for the class that is graded. Being able to choose classes in college is a huge difference, however. When I first started signing up for classes for this semester I had a more extensive selection to choose from. College classes focus more on the student 's future career and give more options in classes. Even though the classes are longer, we have more free time outside of school. In college, you are treated like an adult and are given more freedom. For instance, if you haven 't turned in an assignment the teacher isn 't going to keep asking you about it and giving you chances to turn it in. If you don 't have the assignment by the time that you should then it becomes a zero in the system. With so much free time the teachers just have to trust that you will get your work done. But freedom is also a good thing because being able to go home and unwind is important. For me having free time is important because I like having time to myself and relaxing.
