According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, marriage is a relationship between a husband and a wife and it is also a similar relationship between people of same sex. In past, marriages were often held between a man and a woman according to traditions and ethnicities. As time went on, people started changing their lifestyles and traditions. As homosexual lifestyle becomes prominent in the society, a new controversial debate has been started in the world about the legalization of this type of marriage. The same sex marriage has been extensively argued in the recent past years because of its controversial nature. Marriage is a relationship between two agreeing adults who love and care for each other. It is a union of two persons in a bond that lasts until death. Marriage is about love not about money, gender, procreation or anything else. Although most of the population of the world is against the legalization of gay marriage due to their religious and traditional believes yet the same sex marriage should be legalized as marriage is a basic civil right of every person of this world. To rea...
Most people want to say its not a marriage because a marriage is a covenant between a man and a woman, and that allowing same sex couples to participate in this would be something entirely different (10 Reasons Why Homosexual). This reason here mainly relies on the Bible as well, because it says, Ephesians 5:25 Husbands should love their wives, as Christ loved the church (KJV). Giving the people the interpretation that it means only a man and a woman. However, it also says love is patient, love its kind…love never ends (KJV, 1 Corinthians 13:4-10). Saying that regardless of who they are they deserve the love.
What is marriage? Based on what a person believes, marriage can mean many different things. For example, someone with a Christian background might say that it is a holy matrimony of man and woman. For someone with a background of atheism, it might mean committing to their significant other, which ever gender they are, for the rest of their life. However, this can change from person to person depending on what they believe marriage is.
The institution of marriage is typically known as a religious rite. When religious people think of marriage they think of God and the church. Traditionally, people also think of one man and one woman. Same-sex marriage will change this philosophy. Religious leaders across the world agree gay marriage will alter marriage forever. Same-sex marriage and homosexuality are topics religious leaders of the world connect and agree on. A variety of religions, such as Buddhists, Protestants, Catholics, Mormons, Jews, and Muslims, have...
Marriage as generally define is the union between one man and one woman. However a recent debate over same-sex marriage has stirred a nationwide debate reverberating in the halls of Congress, at the White House, in dozens of state courtrooms and legislatures, and is also becoming a speech-making topic for election campaigns at both the national and state levels. As the debate for this controversial topic rages on, the American religious community view on the topic remains deeply divided over the matter and over the morality of homosexuality in general. Granting legal marriage right to gays and lesbians would primarily alter the idea of marriage, ignore a child’s right to a mother and father, and expands government control of marriage.

Homosexual love relationships is exactly the same to that of a heterosexual couple. Marriage is a commitment that two people make when they love each other, they are willing to spend the rest of their days together, with the person who can be themselves and not have the fear of being judged for what they are, the person which you know is there at all times in good times and in bad times. Not with a person that you 're with only because society is so agreeable. In the United States in 2004 Massachusetts became the first state to legalize marriage be...
The idea that marriage can only be between a man and a woman is an antiquated belief. While understanding and sympathizing with the concern that same-sex marriage will change the traditional definition of marriage, people must come to realize that same-sex unions have no effect on heterosexual relationships. People can argue rights or family life or religion, constituting a strong argument, but ultimately, no argument is as strong as that of equality. Marriage is a celebration of life and love that should be available to both heterosexual and same sex couples.
What is marriage? According to Webster’s Dictionary a marriage is “the state of being united to a person of the opposite sex as husband or wife in a consensual and contractual relationship recognized by law.” It can also be stated for those of the same sex, but for the purpose of this paper it will be examined from a heterosexual standpoint.
What is equality? Is it bending to the nations will or is it providing certain human rights without regard of the person or persons? The majority of Americans believe in the latter. Unfortunately, giving same-sex couples the right to marry, which is a human right, threatens certain traditions in the world of religion. However, the legalization of same-sex marriage is a necessary action to keep our nations view on equality. Although same-sex marriage is a recently approached issue, homosexual rights has been a subject in debate since its introduction to the mainstream since the 1960’s.
Marriage is a “socially recognized and approved union between individuals, who commit to one another with the expectations of a stable and lasting intimate relationship. It begins with a ceremony known as a wedding which formally unites marriage partners. A marital relationship usually involves some kind of contract, either written or specified by tradition, which defines the partners’ rights and obligations to each other, to any children they may have, and to their relatives. In most contemporary industrialized societies, marriage is certified by the government,” (Skolnick, 2005). Marriage is also an important institution because of the impact it has on society. Marriage is the main way that reproduction of human life occurs. In some societies it is tradition for family heirlooms or things of value be passed on through marriage. Marriage also serves as a healthy way to have intimate relationships with an individual. In most places a marriage exists between two people of the opposite sex. However, the legal definition of marriage is currently being challenged by many. According to Skolnick’s article a marriage can be defined by responsibilities that a couple would share, some examples are: living together, having sexual relations, sharing money and financial responsibilities, and having a child together. The issue is that homosexual couples can do these things like heterosexual couples.
The Supreme Court of the United States ruled that the Constitution guarantees a right to same-sex marriage. Yet, same-sex marriage continues to be a highly debated issue that leaves our society searching for answers. Traditionally, marriage is the union of a man and a woman. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition of marriage reads "to join as a husband and wife according to law and custom; to take as husband or wife; to enter into a close union" (452). Dictionaries are not a biased publication and serve as a guide to what words mean.
Marriage is “a union representing a special kind of social and legal partnership between two people” (Merriam-Webster Dictionary). Marriage means the same thing to all of us but the way we get to the alter depends on our culture. Culture can dramatically impact and make a big difference in the way we view marriage. A person you choose to spend your life with should not be chosen by anyone else but yourself. That is the person you will have beside you with your family. Anyone will do anyone will anything to protect their family weather is the wife or husband, so we all need to choose wisely.
On June 26, 2015, the US Supreme Court ruled that the US Constitution guarantees the right for same-sex couples to marry. Should gay marriages be legal? Clearly we as a nation are undecided on this issue. Thirty-six states have passed legislation banning gay marriages, yet a few states have passed laws that allows homosexual couples the right to participate in civil unions. Several other states are also debating whether or not to allow these couples to marry. Unfortunately, the dispute has left the United States' homosexual community in an awkward position. There are some people who think that gay people have no rights and should never be allowed to marry, and others believe that gay people should enjoy the same rights and privileges as heterosexuals. I think that the United States should allow same-sex couples to marry just like heterosexual couples.
Many people believe in a traditional marriage between a man and a woman. God created man and woman to be faithful and produce children. Same-sex marriage is contrary to the word of God and the laws of nature; therefore, it is incompatible with the beliefs, sacred texts, and traditions of many religious groups. Many biblical scriptures talk about how immoral same-sex marriage is.
Marriage is just one way for two people to show their love for another. Whether it is two men, two women, or a man and a woman, love is love. People against gay marriage do not have the right to deny people of showing their love for one another. Everyone deserves the same rights as Americans and also just as people. The United States of America promotes freedom, liberty, and justice for all people. Same-sex couples are many times not included when it comes to marriage rights.
